Pretesting the 17th and the 25th,  I am starting to get a little worried and the mental countdown has begun

Clint,  I can certainly sympathize!  I had a major surgery last December and I think the hardest part was the waiting beforehand.  Once I knew the surgery was needed i would have really, really rather just headed to the hospital and had it over with! 
 The only encouragement I can provide is that keep it in the front of your head that you will be better off once you get this done... Concentrating on the end goal will help you get through the miserable waiting and initial recovery time.  picture the things you will be able to do after you get healed up... you know it will be worth it!
 
 

I was lucky.
From time I first had severe pain to cutting was probably 3 weeks.
Didn't like what the MRI showed I guess.
 
So much better after the surgery and rehab.
 

Pretesting  DUNN.   Good news  all my blood work and EKG came back  good.   Even better I was tested for MRSA and do not have it.  I was a bit nervous about this as I have been exposed to it literally 100's of times at the hospital and many folks have it and do not even know and get no ill effects until a it creeps up after a wound or a surgery.

It looks like I'll be joining you on the DL shortly.  I torqued my left knee the end of May and after a couple of doctor visit he ordered an x-ray.  It appears I have torn the cartilage (I hope that is all) and I am waiting to hear from an orthopedic doctor for an appointment.  Went through this with my right knee 15 years ago, they removed 80% of the medial meniscus, and the left knee feels the same.  If surgery is in order I would like to get it done as soon as possible so I don't miss out on silly season.  I wouldn't want to be wading around the SR with a bum knee before or after surgery.

As usual with any medical procedure its likely that the waiting is worse on the mind than the recovery.
