Clarist could I get some clarification.
Why so big for salmon but 6s and 8s for chrome.
I go to #2 7x long streamer hooks for kings when tying some big  streamers but since they are 4 or more inches long streamers I don't see why larger is needed.
Could you post a pic or two of the salmon flies you are tying on those hooks?

He is a troll .....just looking to stir up a response, just like he's doing on the erie board section.

Like a hemorrhoid, ignore it and it will go away.

Maybe so bear.
I have thought that myself but I figure give him a chance to explain.
If he can I'm more than willing to listen and learn.
If not he's shown to be a worthless troll.
The rope I have given him was free but it has a noose at one end.

Clarist please post up one of your flies on a 1/0 hook

He was accused by several people  of snagging a brown in the eye that he posted from Oak Orchard.  Whether he did or not, I fell off my chair laughing as it reminded me of the old Cheech and Chong bit- " oh man, eee stuck it in iz eye.....
As I remember he said he wrapped them in estaz. I'd like to see how it looks on a 1/0.

Me too.
Perhaps we will all end up sitting at the feet of clarist taking in the wisdom he deems us worthy of

Or we can all know for sure he is a troll and cold shoulder him right on out of here.

Easy to see. Heavy enough to sink. All in all, an excellent set up for snagging. No wonder you like fishing in NY so much!

Now take another picture of it beside a penny. Looks to me like that thing is tied on a #4 or #6. Either that or the estaz you are using is heavier than any I've ever seen.

atleast it resembles a fly. Most guys fishing Salmon River in public areas use a 1/0 octopus hook with just pieces of kitchen sponge on it. cut the guy some slack at least he dresses up his snagging hooks.

Photo next to a quarter please.
I have never seen estaz that will cover a size 1/0 hook and will look like that.
If that is a 1/0 hook with a hook gap of about 1/2 inch the individual tinsel shafts appear to be  that long also
But then I have little experience with estaz.
Exactly what is that estaz, brand name and size, and where did you purchase it so that I may  get some of my own to check out?
