Good going, Clint. Yeah, it's better than stumbling through the stubble down the powerlines to chase em, hey,Wayne?  You know, if fricking mid river is getting 100 bucks for 2 people for plywood and 2x6 and maybe/maybe not heat, 179 for 2 (is that the price?) would not seem bad at all. Cannons must be up to 120. Looks like my little flea bag thats clean and comfortable for 50 is going to be the place of choice this winter. An hour away  ain't that bad.  Glad your wife is out and in recovery. Tell Jimmy I need woody feathers!!!!!

Charlie,
I couldn't load the mid river site but Cannon has not increased his rates (according to the site).
Most all places up there DO increase the rates for salmon season from anywhere to $50-60 per and then drop back to the normal $35-40 per starting in Nov.. We shall see.. I'm gonna test them out soon.. If it's a un reasonable rate, the cap on the truck works too..

I like the off the radar spot of the Carriage and cost but not the extra hr.. A day trip maybe but anything over that seems like my gas and time would out weigh the extra.. Granted, I'm solo so I could see your point as well..

I just saw a DSR report stating a large pod of kings are making way through the lower end with some steel mixed in.

Thanks Charlie. If he gets any I will pass it along. He's on vacation this week and hasnt taken a shot yet. The warm weather doesn't quite get them moving. We went last week and I did some fishing by the time I got to the gun they were long gone. We seen 20-30 I took 2 shots but they were a little out of range. Maybe next time 1/0 hooks with estaz might get us some ducks.

Clint don't think I could bring myself to staying at Jailwater. It was a school and I could get myself to go when I was in school couldnt imagine staying the night in one. Its asshame that the hole filled in behind jailwater but maybe it deserves them right for getting greety.

L13 still a lot of people but less than half the amount of people in town yesterday. And just like tuna thought I was thinking 6 weight as well. Would love to see a bump in water myself. Got a lot of rain last evening in to the am but probably just enough to keep the flow stable... Probably enough though to suck in a run of kings... Maybe "the run"...???

A quick flush of a few extra hundies for a day or two to move some flesh and leaves before I can get back end of next week.

Plenty of water for fish movement as is but a good cleansing would be nice.

I decide to pull the plug yesterday after a couple big gusts made swinging the poly pointless because as soon as the swing started it was leaf on.

By the way that steelfish clint held up for me was on a small comet swung 25 feet downstream on a poly leader.
Was I getting in your way clint.
Pretty sure you can fish that way unless the people around you are brain dead no nothings or  trying to cross lines on purpose.
By the way she friggin crushed it and was near my backing in 1 move.
Did get into the backing briefly before I coaxed her into coming back up.

Good point TB if your courteous and think of the guy next to you and not just of yourself everyone would have a better environment overall.   I saw the backing a few times yesterday.

A second source posted today's run was a mix of kings, cohos and steel up to 2A.  It seems that the fat lady hasn't flexed her golden pipes just yet on the 2014 salmon run.

HT,

I used to love using an Orvis western series 9' 6 for steel, but it walked out of the back of my car one day with all the rest of the tackle that was in there.  And it was not a good rod if there were still a lot of sharks around, although we broke them off fast back then to get back at the steel.  Almost as fast as we do now, to save on the bruises.

I fished the 9' 6 weight for 20= years I'd guess.
As crowds increased anbd ppeople believed it to be a badge of honor to use light line to over play, I mean fight, steel I put it away in favor of my 8 weight and 10lb minimum line.
We always used the 6s down into the handle and pressured the fish hard but most others just followed the fish around till the fish got bored and died when released.Couldn't stand having someone using what I was doing justify their actions.
Tried it again 2 years ago and wouldn't you know I hit a steady run of double digit chrome that tore me up trying to keep them out of snaggers way.
Fun but futile.
