Today a very good friend of mine, Bill Cusick was enjoying the day checking the ice conditions at Pymie when, he came upon a elderly gentlemen wishing to try his luck through the ice.
 

 
 
It wasn't long before Bill saw the gentleman was no longer fishing through the ice but was sinking, through the ice.
 
 
 
 

 
 
Bill immediately dialed 911 alerting authorities of the situation who in turn, responded to the sight where Bill gave assistance with the rescue operation.
 
 
 
 

 
 
Please join me in congratulating Bill with a hearty thank you for his quick actions, that saved a life.
 
In addition, a big thank you to the park rangers who made a quick response, placing their lives in jeopardy to save a life. 
 

Hats off to those guys for saving that guy! Now he needs to go get his eyes checked because anybody that went out on that ice today is either nuts or can't see very well ! I can't believe anybody was on that slushy dark patched thin ice today ! Seagulls were swimming in open potholes all over the lake today ! Brave guys came through !

Great rescue.  That's one lucky guy. Thanks for posting this, too. Should knock some sense into people. Still a foolish number of anglers venturing out on some very shaky ice around here. I put the tip-ups away last friday. 66 degrees on Saturday and pouring rain now. If you need to fish that bad, head up to the South pier in Erie...plenty o perch and some walleye, and I guarantee you won't fall through!
