Wilhelm Update 2015..................
Fished from 9:45 am til 8:00 pm on 06/03/15 and I'm here to tell you my brother and I had a good time catching crappie, gills and, bass. We shoved off from launch #4 and began catching fish in the lily pad filled bay 100 yds to the east along the north shore. First toss of a 1/32 oz jig tipped with a green curly tail brought fish to the boat and the catching stayed constant all day long! After boating several crappie and bass, we decided fishing in the east wind would not be to our liking so, in hope of finding some sheltered areas, we motored toward the dam. Just past launch #4 along and tight to the south shore we found some relief where our lines hit the water and once more produced fish. It didn't matter if we vertical jigged, tossed and dropped or, swam our bait.... tight lines were had. Eventually the wind began to die down so we decided to check out the action in the deeper water closer to the dam. The wind, unfortunately didn't cooperate and, while not unbearable, began once again to mess with boat control and jigging with UL tackle. No big deal as there are several bay area's where we could find shelter and continued to catch fish.
Just as exciting was, the weeds we saw growing in many areas and some in 5 to 6 FOW, yeah, green healthy weeds. Also, we saw nooooooo schools of shad busting the surface as we have in past years, how exciting is that??
Gotta make a small confession here about the fish though. Oh, it is no lie we caught fish all day long butttttttt we only caught six greater than 9" and two of them were Large Mouth Bass.
But hey............. even if we hadn't caught a single fish, it was still a marvelous day being on Lake Wilhelm fishing with my brother.
