Wimp no carry tall man's burden no mo'! Salam, salam, salam!  Short less than mile hike, oh groaner! Just less than mile, even with twists and turns. Save for power wheel chair, 4 wheel drive model!  Or jet boat!  Put in at compactor and run backward to Pineville!

Dime, it is plot to empty the staircases by Saturday AM so I have them all to myself.  The only way we could have been more general would be to say "in Oswego County", and really, if you've walked the river at all, there are no secret spots, just places you like to fish better.

Don't tell them about the guys we saw that were herding all the fish into big nets and putting them in other parts of the river at night, and only telling a few guys where they were putting them.  Although the generalized upstream movement should be resulting in them stacking up like cord wood for any that make it up from 52.

There are fish from top to bottom right now, but you still need some savvy to realize that and then identify taking spots, and then put what they want to eat through them long enough, as there is still a pulse to it all.  As RG was saying, a lot of fish only sometimes biting, and if you are with a hot rod like I fish alongside, it maybe really sometimes!
But if you hiked to a spot the last couple of days, and there were people in it, you either kept going or went back a little and there was fine water for prospecting most of it with as many possible sweet spots as what you originally wanted to fish.  I know the water we were in that we knew fished very differently for us than it ever had before.

Got sick on my trip to Toronto.
Laid on the bank a lot.
Started good with a fish on my first pass down the run.
True story
It jumped 7 times by my count in what must have been 20 seconds or less.
Last one was a greyhound at me wrapping my tip.
By the time I cleared the tip it was gone.
Second pass hooked one long enough to get Lucky's attention and gone.
I still suck.
After that it was a blank for me.
But Lucky picked away and hit 4 landing 1 through the rest of the day.
Not nearly the fish as the week before but we had the run to ourselves most of the day.

Couple old guys below us got into maybe 8 or 10 and we saw fish rolling and jumping.
Enough going on to keep the intensity level up knowing the next swing could be the one.
All in all a good day other than this ebola or whatever I picked up.

There were definitely a lot more guys on the river than last week.  Speytards and fly flingers, a fair number of stealth lifters, but some very talented fishermen as well (and some of the spey guys were also very talented I picked up some ideas for mastering the left bank with the long rod.)  No saltwater spinning rods seen all day!  2B was settling down for a nap when one guy asked if he could fish through the spot (I thought I was in another country for a second!)  and with a fine swing, he managed two in the 45 minutes or so that the chain saw was running on the bank.   One of the guys from the tailout came up while I was tying up a new tippet and talked for a few, revealing that he was 86!  I should be so lucky as to be in this man's shape when I hit 70, I if it hit 70!

I hear LOTAC will be cleaning and fishing this weekend and rooms are pretty much booked.  That and the arctic blast may keep me on central LO tribs.  And word is that the Oak got a huge run last week!
