Well, fishing sucked on Saturday for me at least. One small largemouth, and a small smallmouth. Water was low 70s and upper 60s depending where you went. 528 side had a bad algae bloom, and over McDaniel side was brown water.

The turn must be upon us.

Went out Saturday too. Got a few. Imagine there would be a good dip in water temp if turned. Was 71 where I was.

I think a musky tourney going on? The amount of guys musky trolling seemed more than I have ever noticed or I just happened to be fishing a musky hotspot? Some guys got pretty dang close on their trolling passes too. So figured there must be some cash or prize on the line.

There was a musky event, they were launching out of 528, when I rolled up little before 8am. Heck, some of them started trolling right at the launch.

Some of these tournament guys are complete bozos. I guess that can be said of any crowd though. Most seemed like good guys, wave as they go by, give a respectable distance when passing. One knuckle dragger came directly at our boat that was drifting. Didn’t steer clear until maybe 20-30 feet away, with his planer boards maybe 10 feet from my boat. If people are such sore losers, why even bother getting in a tournament? Going the typical 5-7 mph that they troll at with the typical wake that speed kicks up. Maybe it was the bent rods that loser was seeing when passing my boat? Sorry loser if you are reading this, maybe one day you will be in the 10% that catches 90% of fish. Until then, you will be the loser that you are. Go home and beat your wife, since it was clearly her fault you suck at fishing.

salty much?  lol.....maybe keep a stout, 7' ocean rod with 100# braid and and a heavy, weighted treble tied on it for just such a time... have a reel that can be locked down with 30-40# of drag and go to town when he gets too close next time.  You'll fight better than any musky he had ever hoped to catch and likely win the battle handily.  Might even get a nice, expensive musky plug out of it.

Maybe a little work stress in that message! Like said, most of the guys seemed good. The normal musky guys are always respectful and have talked to a bunch at launches. Seem like great guys that are on a different level of addiction to fishing that I respect. Usually my favorite guys on the lake. My bet is the guy was frustrated that he wasn’t catching anything and I must have been drifting over the spot he wanted to fish.

Bass tournament guys have the same bad apples. One guy coming off of the lake cut in line of multiple other boats going into the launch, then cuts a guy or two off from the parking lot to the ramp. After that, he clogged up the ramp unloading his gear and other staging. Possibly the biggest jerk move that I have ever witnessed.

Without getting into too deep of a dive, no business having any kind of tournaments out there. It's such a small lake with a limited amount of space. Add 40 to 50 extra boats, not to mention cash at stake, no wonder it's a chit show.

Going to set a few Chub traps at a crick that runs through my son's property between Connie Lake & Linesville on way home tomorrow. Just cut the grass at camp so can try for Crawlers tonight. Raining again now. Plan to get out Friday with two of my sons (first time out for me all year) I Hope!!

Tim, You could go to the Erie cricks... With all the rain that has fallen the last few days, Lol!!

Don't know what my kid has planned but sure hope it's not for L/M, not up for cast after cast even though it's a good time doing so.
