Going to launch out of Franklin next week.  Fish towards Kennerdale.   The first set of rapids down from the launch.  Is it best to run the middle of river, left side or right side heading down stream?
I will be floating most of the time so I can see how the river runs for my return trip back to the launch.

You will want to run right side of river most of the way going from Franklin to Belmar Bridge

The river level in Franklin is 3.44.   At what level is too low to navigate this stretch?  or does it not get that low to often?
 
I have East Brady to Kennerdell figured out,  I have a goal to learn Kennerdell to Franklin this season.

I think under 3.2 you got to watch in spots, the riffle by Joy can be real low and then further down past the old bridge. I dont think it really gets below 3.0 unless its drought, but by no means am I an expert

Joy is the manufacturing plant right below the launch. Its pretty much the first shallow rapid you will encounter. 

Fished Friday from Franklin to past Fisherman's cove.  Caught quite a few bass and one walleye.  The most productive bait was a simple Mepps spinner.  Great trip for the first time fishing this area.
 
One thing that was extremely odd was before we got to fisherman's cove this helicopter flew right up to us and was dropping what looked like brown liquid right into the river.   Anyone have any idea what that might have been about?

Ya those Black Flies have been on the warpath on the Big Lake. Last time we went wasn't too bad with the breeze. If there's no wind, forget. They'll chew ya up.
