Just got back from the land of Oz (Oswego).  A tough day, had to grind all day but managed to put some steel & a brown in the boat.  Beads, sacks and back trolling plugs with beads being the best of the three.  A lot of water made the drifts tough.  The fish turned on for a brief period later in the day as we managed six out of one small stretch of water.  I lost three nice steelhead, one at the net, another a long distance release and probably my best fish to a submerged trunk of a tree.  That fish was a dark male that broke water a couple of times before breaking off.  I hope to have a couple of pictures to post, nothing big but........

Sounds like a good day, Gerry. Tough on the steel, they are brutes sometime. People that say they land the majority they hook, lie through their teeth. Glad you went.

The day before (Saturday) was a banner day with great conditions except for the high water.  The fellows that fished that day did very well with both browns and steel including a monster male steel that was a shade under nineteen pounds.  I saw the pictures, truly a fish of a lifetime.

The photo is the monster that was caught and released on Saturday.

Nice fish for yourself gerry, thanks for sharing. And that monster is a fish of a lifetime!!! I honestly would lean more towards fishing oz by boat if I had the time and boat. There are great fish to be had there

I used to fish Oswego often with my Jon boat. Launched under bridge by lock, not sure if still can.
That is aTRICKY river and I lost a few anchors in there.

Nice fish indeed and those pics you sent me looked like beautiful healthy ones too .
Congrats !!

Hot tuna-  the Oz was no place for a jon boat at that cfs.  The rapids between the Utica Avenue Bridge, Railroad Tressel and the 104 Bridge were rolling 4-6 swells.  The trip up to the face of the dam was an adventure.  The water from the launch in back of the motels was dicey and rolling at a pretty good clip.  The only way we had a chance to get up river was to launch from the kiddie pool at the end of the low wall on the west side in back of the Ritz Diner (now called Jocko's).  The center wall was completely under water.  The 30lb anchor had trouble holding bottom in a number of spots.
That river is not for the faint of heart at those levels.
