Got in Thurs late in the rain and temps in the 30s. It snowed a coupla times over the past few days but today (sun) it got into the 40s- still snowed again.
Friday crowds not bad at all  anyplace except for  upper Vines to the Church hole. Didn't fish it but watched the Church conga line and only saw a very few dark  winter looking Steel. Hey - whats with all the  weights and sacs in the Zone ??
Saturday only picked up some chubs. Crowd up river looked like King season but it thinned a lot as ya went down.
Always figured if the chubs were out and active it was likely no larger fish are around= even if they aren't being chased its seems likely the predator fish would keep them in hiding.
Never even saw a fish of any kind running  in the river fishing lower vines and mid river. Covered a lot of water too.
One guy said he hit fresh Kings in one of the Sandys Friday.
DARN -those numbers of Steel a week or two back musta run up to winter holds with very few following behind.
DSR reports are nice but a small pod  here and there running in gets so spread over the miles of river that ya don't even notice them.  Cept for a lucky few who happen to be in the right spots at the right time  or know of regular holds and work them hard.
Had to be  putting  stuff in front of unseen fish in deep runs here and there but no takers-thousand casts and only the chubs. Think the cold front of several days in the 30s mighta had some affect too.
Glad I got up to winterize as there is a polar vortex supposed to hit there mid week with temps into the 20s.
Likely it for me for quite a while.
Good luck to all going up- if ya want a fish instead of a fishing experience ya may as well get in a line upriver.

R3g3 I think that was the words for 2013. Why now a days the weathermen have to have all these fancy words what happened to the day when we were told it was just going to get cold?

Arctic air is what I remember hearing. Trev, my son caught a creek chub also and ended up having some other smaller ones nibbling his fly. Made me think the same thing... That fish are not there in "big" numbers.

Andy, you may recall that November is my favored time of year- in this dizzy season there were no fish whatsoever in my favored spots. Can generally find some Steel behind late spawning Kings and a few Hos around those places. Not this time---zip for any species cept chubs.
Thought with the late run of Kings a week or so back with nice numbers of Hos and Steel that this Nov would be great --not to be- not even close.
Even if the weather had turned them off a bit one would think ya could at least cover water mid to upper and see something sitting there ---nope.

Too funny!!! There's definitely fish to be had but nothing to write a novel about... Could the word "epic" be fizzling out for the time being??? I kinda never liked anyway...lol
