Uglyfish invited me to fish with him on his stretch of the Hudson, so after sweating heavily all day, I changed clothes in my customer's garage  and met Wayne at the dock; conveniently on the way home.  He rowed (his motor's out on the bigger craft ) and guided  us to quite a few fish, with a good variety. I landed one decent pike that almost cartwheeled into the boat and missed one that looked much, much bigger. We caught largies, smallies , rockies, crappie, pike and bluegill. They were loving a chartreuse over white Deceiver that I've whittled down to acting like a Rapala for the fly rod. They also liked Wayne's popper and a foam slider of mine. He occasionally threw a pumpkin Senko and they ate that, too.  He got bit off twice!  Pike were hungry!  He's been working absolutely insane hours and I feel very grateful he took some time to get us out there on the water. One of the best evenings  I've had this year.  Hopefully, we can carry this good fortune on further river jaunts and out to the SR.  We'll be out when you are, some of the time, Jack. I made reservations  at Selkirk.

Yes was great to get out. Always a great time sharing stories and bonus when your catching fish. Anytime I'll man the oars if I have to. Like I said we just scratched the surface last night next we'll put that 25-30 fish to shame. Charlie great to hear about joining us the end of September can't wait. I see a recon trip for sometime mid September.

On a side note, last year at this time there were very few reservations made for camping at Selkirk, this year the sites are over half gone already. Despite the sporadic run last year, I'd expect more crowds, especially into Oct.

Remember last year hitting the church pool 0 dark thirty and the place was already packed. Seems like every year you have to get to spot earlier and earlier

Great to hear guys! Awesome outting it sounds like :)

As for o-dark thirty... I remember hitting the church pool at that time of day to see guys with noodle rods and a half gobe 30 pack making their way out as we were coming in :D

As you guys are implying, I'm sure crowds are here to stay

Trying to get a " spot " at O dark thirty is what has been turning me off. I don't mind getting up early ( well kinda do ) but getting somewhere that early and finding out your late is a bummer to me .
