One may well predict that the Black Hole will be shoulder to shoulder by tomorrow with a fishing report like that.
A truly memorable 4th.

Mostly because of the girls, RG.... It would be interesting to have tracking on some of the warm water species to see what happens in the transition to fall and how much overlap there is coming and going. You can imagine some new DSR reports- The Crappie run is on!!!!!  That was the honest report from last fall.

I was thinking a bit last night, because the crappie was caught at the trestle I would guess it ventured from the upper reservoir not from the lake.

Fished Oneida today for four hours. Got this bass a few really big sunnies and dropped an eye at the boat. Started  pretty windy with a good chop, winds from the southeast, wind switched to a more easterly direction and slowed a little. It was a slow day.

Andy, I enjoyed the fact that the water is spring fed and never gets below 50. I fished it in the late 90's (above the pond and mill where you fished) when they had a  special winter season. It was warm in the water!  Tiny midges and huge fish. Oh yeah, you can do that on the SR now. With the small exception, the bows in the Conetquot were actually taking the midges instead of getting lined.

Wow this thread got buried in my updates for some reason...awesome fish clint!!! I've had some small mouth success but high water has made it sparse... Charlie, hysterical! I do believe midges can be successful in the SR but yes, anyone dredging size 18 midges in winter is for sure lining them... But they are trout and small naturals can work. My smallest ever used on the SR is a #14... Maybe once or twice. In my early years a #12 was common in winter...

Absolutely, Lucky. The largest  shiny chrome I've hooked was on a sz. 10 in blue. Both the fly and the spot were handed to me by HT. I acted like a 2 yr. old and broke it off.
