I was planning to take my kayak to Lake Wilhelm and was wondering if I need a launch permit if I don't use a boat launch? Thanks

Id just get one under $20 for two years an dont have to deal with an **** fish warden arguing with you if you used a launch or not.

If you cannot afford a $10/year or $18/2year permit, then you got bigger problems.

It's not a matter of being able to afford a permit as I have bought them in the past. But, I haven't used the kayak for about two years and was only planning to use it this week until I get my other boat out of storage. I will never understand why people feel they need to reply to message board posts - WHEN THEY HAVE NOTHING USEFUL TO SAY!

First off I think you need a launch permit in the lake cause it requires it. Also you can be fine by putting it anywhere you want I think you need to use the launch that is available. If I can remember it is on the fish comm. website.

Yes you have to have a launch permit at Wilhelm no matter were you put in unless you put in and stay above the wire(79) in the stumps. That section is game lands.

I think the state rule is you need the permit to use any state owned launch facilities.  Lake Wilhem is 100% inside a state park, correct?  Therefore, regardless of where you drop your yak in the lake, I would think you'd need the permit.

Thanks for the replies. After some more research I think the lake is within the state park so I guess a permit is needed no matter where you launch.
