Did my annual trip to the Moose River Plains, and I took the HT luck of 2015. 3 days out in a canoe trying everything in the box, did not touch a fish. 5-6 hits every session, but light touchers, and I could not get to the rod fast enough with rowing, a couple of times when sculling , I'd pick up one of two sinking line rods I had out, and get a hit on the other one. Crew from around Shortsville was in, two boats on the ponds fishing lake clears, worms and lures managed a couple small ones, buddy from Albany did decent (19 fish for 4 days, but mainly small) half on a fly from New Hampshire that looked similar to a hornberg. I didn't even get a hit on a worm when tossing out bait rods while stretching the legs on shore! Nice weather for set up, hot and bright Friday, lazed in camp all afternoon, stayed clear until Saturday PM, and then it was rain late PM and all night,(why I spent almost 2 hours rigging two tarps for a 20 x 22 dry spot) and into Sunday AM, thought that would turn them on but it was not to be. Two years ago the same time period produced constant action, and last year we were busy the whole time even if the numbers were not as high as '13, but this year, OUCH!
Always great to be in the woods, though!
Now its time to get out the heavier tackle and put the 2 weight to bed.
