Might think a decent push is in order pretty soon- hope its advertised accurately not as a HOT, its nuts now kinda story. One push does not make a season or when spread in the river a HOT fishery.
Too often those normal pushes-especially in these  slow years - are made to be far more than they are.
That said, improvement to whatever level it comes to this year is imminent.
Mid Sept is make or break time in the present Lake condition IMHO.
Some Hos should show soon with the Kings.
As most of what I observed last week had the fin it seems kind of normal as we have been seeing the 'naturals' first for a while now-soon we may see the stocked fish start come in more regularly.

By the way- Congrats to the folks at DSR and Whitakers-Pathetic reports indicate honest reporting- much appreciated even though it isn't what we are hopping for.

Did my annual trip to the Moose River Plains, and I took the HT luck of 2015. 3 days out in a canoe trying everything in the box, did not touch a fish.  5-6 hits every session, but light touchers, and I could not get to the rod fast enough with rowing, a couple of times when sculling , I'd pick up one of two sinking line rods I had out, and get a hit on the other one.  Crew from around Shortsville was in, two boats on the ponds fishing lake clears, worms and lures managed a couple small ones, buddy from Albany did decent (19 fish for 4 days, but mainly small) half on a fly from New Hampshire that looked similar to a hornberg.  I didn't even get a hit on a worm when tossing out bait rods while stretching the legs on shore!  Nice weather for set up, hot and bright Friday, lazed in camp all afternoon, stayed clear until Saturday PM, and then it was rain late PM and all night,(why I spent almost 2 hours rigging two tarps for a 20 x 22 dry spot) and into Sunday AM, thought that would turn them on but it was not to be.  Two years ago the same time period produced constant action, and last year we were busy the whole time even if the numbers were not as high as '13, but this year,  OUCH!

Always great to be in the woods, though!

Now its time to get out the heavier tackle and put the 2 weight to bed.

Water temps are awful this late summer, and the fish seem really peckish. I've never had so many darn short strikes!!!!  Glad you got out in the woods, Lucky, that's always a big plus; at least to people that  have their priorities straight. We've no doubt you do.

Look what some rain did for us the other day. Were just a few water degrees from some good fishing. Cool nights are certainly helping. Past two nights I have been behind the vise getting ready for some fishing. As much as I worked so far this year I'm really looking forward to the mandatory 2 weeks off starting Friday. Lots of fishing and slowing the F down. Today off to the foot doctor and more than likely of to surgery sometime in the near future going to continue to suck it up and hope to do it in January. I hope to get up there Saturday night Sunday morning for a few hours I will let you know how I make out.

Agreed on the 'few degrees'.
The river is still very warm and whatever the run may be this year (IMHO) is still holding off for more accommodating temps or until their biological clock says they must go no matter what conditions may exist.
Cold or hot high or low they  will eventually come.
Just hope for a decent showing.
The one thing I have always felt was the true key to 'the run' is estuary reports- they have entered the system and ready to push up sometimes moving through quick and sometimes lingering for a while- but the Estuary seems to be the true indicator..
Those reports are still lacking.

Spoke to someone who was out off the Oak and reported the same thing HT did at SR, stacked like cordwood.  Genesee dropped 12 degrees last night, fish should start nosing in any day.
