Watching the vid cam around noon and saw a guy hook up above the bridge==
just as he was playing the fish 3 kayaks came rushing down-
Two  were upside down and the third had a guy paddling like crazy trying to get to the overturned yaks.
He got to one just as they went under the bridge.
Flipped over to the town pool vid and they guy had both yaks under control and was taking them to the wall,
No drowned paddlers seen as was my first fear.
Hope they just got away from folks upriver.
The fisherman landed the fish up above the bridge too. all good.

Are you sure they were in distress ?
On the float trip with water pushing 2k, there only other boats we seen were kayaking. They were definitely pros and loving that class water

Distress was my first inclination and frankly felt a bit odd just watching live on the computer unable to do anything but sit here watching--but after he retrieved them I guess they were escapees from someplace upriver--would love to know if someone was stranded upriver--they were really moving fast through the needle  lol

Heard they did pull a swimmer out yesterday with a helicopter

That water is still pretty cold and without the right gear hypothermia would set in quickly.  r3g3 you know from training that you don't make yourself part of the problem.
In 2011 a psychiatrist who taught mental hygiene to police recruits at the academy drowned while rafting on the Croton River.  The river is the tailwater from the NYC Croton Reservoir which dumps into the Hudson River just above Ossining NY.  He and friends went rafting after a hurricane Irene had rolled through the area.  Sometimes the most experienced can't get themselves out of a bad situation.
