Here are the pics of my 8 pt. from this morning.
Man, deer are tough critters. Shot was 20 yds but he was walking and I didn't want to try and stop him and alert him. Hit a little back. Watched him run out to 50 yds and then just stand there, hunched up. Arrow was barely hanging out of him on the exit side. The fletch was caught up inside. He started stumbling and then came back towards me 5 or so yards then bedded down. He was there, head up, for a good 10 min. or more. Tried to get up a couple times and then put his head down. Felt bad as I had no clear shot to follow up and it was pretty far anyways. Didn't want to try and get down and possibly spook him. He eventually went to one side and I knew he was expired. Ended up hitting one lung, liver and the stomach. Maybe 5 drops of blood total from where I hit him initially to where he bedded down. Even there, only a couple small puddles of blood. His entire chest cavity was filled with blood but with the higher entrance and the stomach/arrow plugging the exit, no blood. Tough, uphill drag but he is at the processor.
Pulled the card from the camera 20 yds behind this stand and man, Friday was a good day there too. A hot doe came through early and there was a parade of bucks, I think 8 to 10 different ones, a handful of legal ones and a couple shooters. Bigger bucks didn't come through until late morning/early afternoon.
Thanks to all the veterans for your service!
