Haha, all good John.  I'm under no illusions that my kids get their smarts from me.  Of the 5 people in our family, I have the lowest IQ.

On the other hand, their good looks, charm and athleticism is all from me.

As for the hunt, it was rather uneventful.  A 4 pt crossed 35 yards in front of him, and didn't even bother with the doe and skipper feeding in the field.  That's all he saw.

No sign of the rut arriving in my area this morning. Saw one lone spike that was just casually strolling around. He walked between two scrapes and never gave them a thought.

DarDy I read with interest, your post saying you need to get out and see this rut, we talk about.

If I may, here is a pre-view of what we see, in our own back yards, right here in Penn's Woods.

The pics were taken this morning just after 10:00 AM.

Taking a minute for a little brunch eating an apple.

Not only did this buck not pay attention to the 6 doe he busted from the woods, nor pays attention to another buck but he takes
a minute to munch an apple.

To boot... no blackened tarsals or swollen neck.

Rut in for my (new) little piece of Penns Woods..........? Younz be the judge.

Even gooder about these pics, no dam finger print smudge on the camera lense. πŸ‘

Good luck, Aim Small... miss small.

Ain’t none of that, except the not cute tree rats, happening during the daylight hours here. There certainly are bucks chasing does hither and yon during the daylight or at night in front of my cameras either.

Woe, underdressed tonight.... brrr.....and got drizzled on to boot. Only saw 2 fawns so far. One we call socks was by herself this time so either mommy got whacked or she is being tended to by a buck.
