Congrats to those that have scored!

eyes, great videos!  great stories!  hope ya whack one.

my oldest who turned 16 yesterday is on his first solo hunt right now.  his stand is about .4 miles from our back door, as the crow flies.  about 1.25 miles to drive to where i drop him off.  youngest didn't want to hunt this evening - fishing in erie all day saturday and the time change has him wiped out - so it's nice to be able to drop him off and let him hunt, even when little brother doesn't want to go.

Great posts and good luck to all of you! I would still l like to put a doe in the freezer before time runs out on archery season. Unfortunately I spent the evening mowing. Few small patches left for tomorrow, then I'm done with that chit for the year. Let the snow fly, the deer run, and the fish bite!

I too missed a chip shot today with my long bow 11-12 yards on an average 2.5 yr old 8. He was chasing a doe when I got him to stop. It went right over his back. He jumped to about 20 and just stood there looking around until I got another arrow nocked then he went on about looking for his girlfriend never to be seen again. Better a clean miss than a bad hit. Tomorrow is another day, The quest continues.

Another afternoon fighting the crazy wind ... wow ! 2 to dark . Grunted , rattled some but nothing . Then almost dark I hear something in the thicket about 25 yds from me , I see movement coming toward me only to see it was a little spike being curious ... lol hit the path looked around and back in the thicket ...I thanked him for the little bit of excitement he gave me and I left ...😜👍🍺

Using a long bow is archery hunting at it's finest.

By chance, upon wondering off right as you nocked your arrow, did you present your quarry "The Long Bowman Finger Salute"?

(Really fellers, there is such a salute among long bowman)

I guess I probably was somewhere a little bit deep down inside, but I never really felt nervous, or at least acknowledged that I felt nervous.

He's hunted out of that stand so many times, and has shown me so much maturity and good decision making (not just in hunting, but in real life) that there was really no reason to be nervous.  He's more emotionally mature than many adults I know.  Super smart in the class room and in real life.  Always been on the cautious side.

 Congratulations to the successful hunters!
Saw a very nice albino buck last week in Slippery Rock on way home.

Haven't hunted in years but son is closing on a place in Harrisville next week with McMurry Run out back. Looks very promising for Whitetail so will start back up next season. Nice lake through the woods to check out also. Even has a walk-in cooler. Have all this meat cutting stuff not getting used much anymore. Least Pork chops are on sale this week for 99 cents  Making sticks & sausage.

Still make the ole lady nervous,, yesterday cleaning chimney flue out on home roof. Last week replacing 2nd fl windows & roof work at camp.

GLROS & be safe,

Yeah, yinz pretty much nailed it

Really though, of my three kids he's the one that I'm least concerned will do stupid stuff.

We went out last Thursday evening after the torrential rains.  It had quit raining and was just starting to get a little windy. Walked to the tree stand, and all of a sudden the wind started howling.  Wanted to test him a little bit so I didn't say anything, just wanted to see what he'd decide.  He said, "Not going up there."  Hunkered down at the edge of a field in a blowdown for a few minutes, and said, "I can't hold my bow steady in this, and even if I could there's no way my arrow would fly straight.  Let's go home."
