Thanks everyone. Hard to think my seasons over already. We have meat left over from last year so doe hunting would be overkill. Guess ill keep the boat out longer and hope for early ice

Congrats outasync and a nice harvest. Looks like you have a great future hunting and fishing pall. Mine was with me for many years and still on the odd occasion. However job, fiancé and 250 miles now keep us from building more memories. I feel sorry for lots of youth today that spend all their time on computers and gaming as I feel they will get to be my age and have no memories.

My sentiments exactly. See way too much of the kids on computers / iPad non-stop. By the looks of this thread there are at least a few parents showing their children the wonders of the outdoors which is commendable. I have no children, but everytime my niece and nephew are this way to visit I make sure to get them out to uncle shawn's for a while to enjoy the simplicities of life. No tv or Wi-Fi, but we just spend time checking out the woods, fishing, or building things in the woodshop. Hopefully some of it sticks when they get older.

Back to archery though. Once again I couldn't make it out tonight. Sure as shat, at 6:50 when I went out to take a peek at the field the same buck came ripping across and into my woodlot. Come hell or high water I'm hunting the stand he heads toward tomorrow. Looks like the wind will be in my favor so hopefully I at least get a glimpse of him.

Good luck Crappie_slayer.

Treesparrow well said. My two, now adult, children have long gone, their own way. I'm thankful home computers were just making their way and these stupid phones didn't exist back in their younger days. (Boy if I only knew then what I know now🤔)

But today I gotta admit I enjoy these things, cause stories of hunting and fishing posted on these boards, sure do bring back some fond memories.

Congrats Outtasync!

Took a break from the deer woods the last few days.

Went to Erie with my 9 year old to catch some steelhead yesterday and we found a few dumb fish among all the stupid fish.

Took my 15 year old to chase some pheasants after school today. Our dog put up 10 birds but he only got shots off at 2 of the flushes. He got one rooster running on the ground (we saw it up ahead and I had the dog sit by my side while he went after it - no ground shots for us when the dog is working).

Prob won’t be able to take the boys out for deer again till next Monday.

Also have to agree about the computers /IPads . So glad to see you guys teaching all you can to your young kids . Our grandsons 23 & 28 are die hard hunters I have many great memories watching them . Both do their own hunting thing now but they both have families and good jobs so sometimes work does interfere with their hunting ... lol. Now I have a grandson 14 that is a die hard fisherman which is great but not so much into hunting ... so I do get to do some fishing with him ..so maybe someday he will get into hunting but not pushing it. His dad is kinda bummed but I say be happy he loves to fish .

Now my bow season has been very slow , only 2 evening sits so far , 2 small no shooter bucks a few doe nothing close ....had a 1 fairly nice 6pt maybe 8 on camera of course at 1:30 AM last Saturday night ... nothing new at all on camera today except a 4 wheeler at 5:30 Sunday going down the one path ... lol

Took my daughter out last night for an evening sit.  Set up the ground blind in an easy to get to spot I have behind my uncle's house.
Not long after getting set up, a fawn with a white "sock" on one leg and a momma doe come by less than 15 yds.  They both knew something was "up" with this new box in the woods but if she would have wanted to use her doe tag, we would have had an opportunity.  It was funny seeing her just get "deer" fever and shaking with them so close.  They hung around for 10 min. or so before ambling off.
About 20 min. later, another deer (button buck) comes in and man, did he come in.  He is in the picture below and we could have literally leaned out of the blind on several occasions and touched him with the shooting stick.  He didn't look to be in the best shape and must have lost mom awhile ago.  He was really skinny with ribs showing and his hind quarters and shoulders were really thin.  Acted "normal" esp. for a button buck...so I just think he didn't get much passed down to him before his mom probably got hit by a car.  Hopefully he makes it.  He stayed around for 20 min. or so....and then walked off over the hill and out of the thicket next to us, another small deer bounded after him at about 10 yds.
Daughter was excited....just no bucks showed up, maybe next time.
