They finally worked their way back out in front of me and I decided to take #4 at about 5 yds from the stand. Double lung that didn't go far. With work being crazy busy and having limited hunting time in happy to have some meat in the freezer.

Congrats on the archery deer! Any deer with an arrow is a job well done.

BeenThereDoneThat.
There is a difference in the hunt. Even with the use of a compound or crossbow. Although not nearly as exciting, as with a longbow or recurve.

Hell, in my case, just seeing a legal buck I could point my finger at and yell bang, would be special for me.

Stupid ARs..... 💀

hmmmm.....picking a fight, when there is none to pick....

Anyways, congrats Crappie.
Between the rain/storms and heat, I have no ambition to head out hunting right now.  Did some scouting Friday mid-day and didn't find any dead, EHD deer so that was a bonus.
Looks like I may burn a little vacay this Friday AM.....since this weekend will be a no go due to a dek hockey tournament.

Good luck fellers....

Thanks everyone. Looks like cooler temps are on the way this weekend, so it will finally feel like archery season. Good luck to those who get out.

Finished butchering my deer on Sunday, and to my surprise while cutting up the last hind quarter we found what looked to be a .22 round that was well healed into it. Meat was all good at least. Someone must have tagged it in the azz a while back. They are tough little creatures. Was happy to find it with a knife instead of a tooth later down the road.

Yeah there tough critters. Shot a buck with a broadhead encased in a cyst all hard from the year before in his shoulder blade. Shot a buck with a fresh 22 hole in his ear,and shot a doe with what appeared to be a 30/30 slug resting on her spine.  All deer where archery kills. Strange things in the deer woods, good to see I'm not the only one shooting wounded deer.lol

4 years ago my son shot a decent 9 point and I had a friend do a Euro mount for him.  There's a nice, clean hole from a .22 or other very small caliber gun right in the top of it's skull.  Had a little crusty gunk on his forehead there, but other than that, no signs of injury.  It's amazing how tough some of these critters are.

I shot a doe a few years back and it had its right rear leg broken off above the knee. I suspect from a vehicle hit.

It was all healed over.

I think I may have posted this picture earlier this season.   This will be the third season for this doe and some may remember me talking about taking her out (as in killing ya sicko's) last year but I didn't and, here she is with a fawn.

I had a friend come up from Georgia before the AR a d HR. We had a 3 day doe season. We put a little drive on and he shot a completely healed over 3 legged doe. The ironic thing about this was there was a small dirt road that ran parallel to this expressway. I drove back to haul out his deer. There was a state fence with those 8" squares next to  the road. I saw a dried up deer leg wedged between two squares, yes it was a match. Never saw anything like it. That doe ran like she had all four.
