Mopars as they say in the old country.."No pain, No gain"!

Question is, is the gain worth the pain and my answer is, if I gotta wade several hundred yards into the Pennsylvania Wilds to 'harvest' an elusive PA White Tailed Deer using a pointy stick..... screw that, I'm watching TV.

Give 'er hell buddy, I see you in the pictures, soon. 👍👍
you’re right there BTDT no pain no gain but as I sit here at Giant Eagle parking lot in Franklin waiting for my better half to come out with our weekly groceries I am noticing a lot of dark clouds that do not look very promising . Was loving the blue skies and sunshine that we had a little while ago but now that seems to be gone. I’m kind of thinking to myself as I sit here watching the hillside that splits the Allegheny River with the very dark clouds ...I can conclude one thing and that will be I think I’m gonna go hunting tomorrow, there has to be something I can find to watch on TV… Right? So in closing I wish you the best of luck if you go out and swing in your stand tonight looking for that white tail PA dear … Good luck to y’all later

Steve I see exactly what you are saying and thanks for those memories of the view from the parking lot.

I just looked at the radar cause the dark sky I see aint looking friendly but the clouds appear to be trucking to the northwest of me.

Stupid wind direction destroyed my plans for today. The White Tail Deer I been watching are bedding between the edge of the bayou and the field where those goofy acting cornstalks stand. The distance between the field and waters edge where the deer bed, is 100 yds. at best.

I had hoped to get on the southeast edge of the field and nestle down in the Goldenrod sitting on my newly acquired folding stool and greet the darling white tails when they come out to play, musical cornfield later today.

But nooooo, the stupid wind decides it's gonna come from the southwest putting me downwind of the stupid deer. Thanks for nothin, stupid wind.

Welp, still got time to back up and regroup or just drop back twenty and punt.

Anything good on TV?

Wow is l I can say about the wind. It was howling at first light and came from every possible direction this morning. Hunting a ground hooch and was rewarded with a Potter County spike and 4pt. I've got a bushel basket of horns like that from,Potter,Forest,Venago,Butler and WV from the old days.lol It's looking better for tomorrow wind and rain.lol Oh the deer God's aren't shinning on me yet. If it wasn't the rut I'd start fishing.lol I yet to see any rutting activity. Just lonely bucks cruising. Things gotta pick up.  Was going to go behind the house but its raining pretty good here. What's new!

Got out for the last 2hrs. kicked up a doe on the way in and saw a 4pt while on stand. My wife saw a couple bucks chasing does around the yard this morning.

Congrats to your wife anzomcik! Nice buck and it looks like it was a family affair 👍.

Took the climber to sit on a scrape line that leads to the apple tree where my camera is this evening. Got a few decent buck starting to show up on the camera in the evening, so I had high hopes that one of them would show up. Was dead until 545 when some movement caught my eye. Was pumped that this deer was playing right into the setup, but it ended up being a 1 horned spike. Climbed down at 7 after seeing nothing else. Back at it in the am.

Sat in my blind from 3:30 til dark an' when I went to get up and leave, my feet were asleep, my legs were numb and my asz was stuck in my seat.

Anyways, I did have a 2.5 yr old 4 up walk within my 35 yd range.  Problem was, two points was up on one side and the other two was up, on the other side.  But I ain't sayin a word, about the stupid ARs.

Antlerless were only a few today but doing the same thing as last night... stupid stuff like staying too far away.

I too fail to see any hard signs of the rut and think some bucks might be herding their harem attempting to guard them while others still search, and will begin marking their turf while advertising their presence by scraping and rubbing.  I've yet to see any swollen necks or any darkened tarsal glands on either antlered or antlerless white tailed deer.  Also, the buck I've seen may be chasing but continue to feed and I'm pretty sure that ain't normal when a buck wishes to do-si-do.

Had a visit from Mr. woodchuck today and I'd like to tell yinz 'bout the conversation we had but I'm thinkin yinz might not care to hear about  "How much wood can a wood chuck chuk……...

Good look fellers and fellrettes ……….

Up and ready to get at it in a few. Unfortunately, accuweather shows a large slow moving blob of rain on the radar again this morning. Ugh...another damp day.

Good luck and stay dry

With six 1/2 day sits in and the next deer I see being the first one (they are there in the dark, just nothing in the daylight yet), I decided to take Daphne (our female Pointer) and two friends pheasant hunting yesterday instead of numbing my behind again. We did manage to limit out, but it took 4 hours and total whooped all involved.

Heading out for deer momentarily. If it is not raining, it will be the treehouse in the creek bottom (typically better in the AM), but if the sky is leaking, it will be the ground blind on the field edge because I’m not into getting soaked.

Ya been readily since 6:30 but it keeps raining harder than I thought. Looks like I'll be heading out in about a half hour, according to the radar. Saw two bucks yesterday after 9:00 am. Good year to hunt ducks and mushrooms.
