Bout 5:30 PM ish climbed into my high rise ground blind and got situated just in time to see a buck trotting across the corn field to my south. 160 yards to my south, stupid buck!! Watched him for a bit then decided to take some pics (for those "don't count if no pics fellars). So I popped out the trusty cell phone and began clicking toward the general direction of the deer, knowing full well yinz aint gonna be able to see the stupid buck but I clicked a few pics anyway. To my surprise, whilst I was dyckin around with the phone another stupid deer appeared out of no where, between me and the stupid buck. Well I sez to myself, self you should probably take advantage of the animal being so far away and in the event it should present a shot, you may not want to shoot through the screen covering the window. So in a stealth like motion I reached for the screen and you know, as far away as he was, that buck still heard the Velcro ripping apart.
Anyways, the stupid buck continued feeding and the other stupid deer, an antlerless by political correctness, proceeds into the wood line along the east side of the of the south cornfield. Welp I sez to myself, this could be a good thing cause the buck just might get curious and come see where the antlerless went and with any luck the antlerless will make it's way into my field, entering from the wood line just to my east. Welp, didn't happen as hoped as the buck headed into the goldenrod to his south and the stupid antlerless never did expose itself errr... come out of the woods.
However, a sub-legal buck did appear in my field, to my east, continuing along the wood line and moving to the north. Was fun as he stopped and ratted around in some low overhanging branches but I saw no attempt at scrapping the ground so I'm thinkin the animal was probably browsing rather marking.
Slowly turning my swivel chair that creaks and cracks more than I do, getting out of bed in the morning, I see Mr. stupid buck entering from the goldenrod, back into the corn field to my south. At about the same time, from the wood line along the eastern side of the south corn field, comes the stupid antlerless deer or at least one of the four was.
You may note, there are no pictures (for the "don't count if no pics" fellars) so needless to say, I had another exciting fruitless adventure.
But as always it was a learning experience as I learned the trap door used for the purpose of ingress as well as egress before I regress to my high rise ground blind, should be trimmed to alleviate any swelling, preventing one from getting the stupid door open when I wanted to go home.
I do have pictures of the deer in the corn field as well as the buck in my field but after all this rambling, I'm tooooo tired to post them so to the "don't count if no pics" fellars, sucks to be you.
I have to go to Erie tomorrow morning but after seeing a buck that could be a legal shooter and hopefully remembering a pry bar, I hope to be back in the high rise ground blind tomorrow afternoon. Stay tuned!!
