Did my first all day sit of the season, saw five bucks. Three were legal, a small 7 and 8 got a pass a decent 8 never came inside of 40 yds. All bucks seen between 10:30-4:00. Saw four doe n two bald eagles as well. Not a bad day at all.

BeenThereDoneThat.
Bout 5:30 PM ish climbed into my high rise ground blind and got situated just in time to see a buck trotting across the corn field to my south.  160 yards to my south, stupid buck!!  Watched him for a bit then decided to take some pics (for those "don't count if no pics fellars).   So I popped out the trusty cell phone and began clicking toward the general direction of the deer, knowing full well yinz aint gonna be able to see the stupid buck but I clicked a few pics anyway.  To my surprise, whilst I was dyckin around with the phone another stupid deer appeared out of no where, between me and the stupid buck.  Well I sez to myself, self you should probably take advantage of the animal being so far away and in the event it should present a shot, you may not want to shoot through the screen covering the window.  So in a stealth like motion I reached for the screen and you know, as far away as he was, that buck still heard the Velcro  ripping apart.

Anyways, the stupid buck continued feeding and the other stupid deer, an antlerless by political correctness, proceeds into the wood line along the east side of the of the south cornfield.   Welp I sez to myself, this could be a good thing cause the buck just might get curious and come see where the antlerless went and with any luck the antlerless will make it's way into my field, entering from the wood line just to my east.  Welp, didn't happen as hoped as the buck headed into the goldenrod to his south and the stupid antlerless never did expose itself errr... come out of the woods.

However, a sub-legal buck did appear in my field, to my east, continuing along the wood line and moving to the north.  Was fun as he stopped and ratted around in some low overhanging branches but I saw no attempt at scrapping the ground so I'm thinkin the animal was probably browsing rather marking.

Slowly turning my swivel chair that creaks and cracks more than I do, getting out of bed in the morning, I see Mr. stupid buck entering from the goldenrod,  back into the corn field to my south.  At about the same time, from the wood line along the eastern side of the south corn field, comes the stupid antlerless deer or at least one of the four was.

You may note, there are no pictures (for the "don't count if no pics" fellars) so needless to say, I had another exciting fruitless adventure.

But as always it was a learning experience as I learned the trap door used for the purpose of ingress as well as egress before I regress to my high rise ground blind, should be trimmed to alleviate any swelling, preventing one from getting the stupid door open when I wanted to go home.

I do have pictures of the deer in the corn field as well as the buck in my field but after all this rambling, I'm tooooo tired to post them so to the "don't count if no pics" fellars, sucks to be you.

I have to go to Erie tomorrow morning but after seeing a buck that could be a legal shooter and hopefully remembering a pry bar, I hope to be back in the high rise ground blind tomorrow afternoon.   Stay tuned!!

Great afternoon in the woods but my Quest continues.
Saw 2 bucks and 3 doe this afternoon. Both bucks were in range unfortunately the one that gave me a perfect shot opportunity at 12yds wasn’t legal. The other a small 8 passed right under me at 12’ but I couldn’t get a shot by the time I realized he was legal. Passed on a small doe at 10yds. Also had 4 turkeys less than 10yds but couldn’t get a draw on them.

Hunted my favorite stand yesterday daylight till 11:00 am. Had my first shooter of the season,a really nice chocolate horned 8pts 16-17 " spread 7-8 " tines. He was coming in on a string and I'm thinking slam dunk. But thing seldom work as planned at 35 yards there a Y in the trail. I've got the safety off and the 30 yard pin a couple inches higher in the kill. All he has to do is keep walking a few more yards. No he stops behind a cluster of trees and does a 180 and takes the other trail head down wind and down the hill. I gave he the Baa to try to stop him but no go. He finally stops a 50 ish and gets a little whiff of me. Takes a couple big hops and looks confused, then slowly walks away. So close but so far away. At 10:30 I watch a small flock of hens and jennies and Jake's feed into range. That's another story, why I tried to shot one in the base of the neck I'll never know.lol I guess I'm thinking shotgun. Well there went a $20 package.lol  She flew up about 20' and landed shaking herself.lol I did get a trophy two neck feathers. Afternoon hunted produced plenty of grey squirrel no deer. I'm getting ready to leave this morning and hopefully will have another encounter with the chocolate buck. I'll be sure to post pics lol
