Captain Hook, was that eagle along the Shenango?  I've seen an osprey(90% sure) along the river a few times this year and even saw it attempt to catch a fish which was cool.

Ospreys are all over Shenango Lake as well as the lower river. They love to hover than go into a full dive for their fish diner. That Eagle was from Lake Willhelm this Spring. I have seen Eagles  flying on the lower river several years now. They also have been spotted on the lake. Here is a photo of wild ducks I see almost every year on the river only! I have seen these at least over the last 5 years of fishing every Spring. They are some kind of Mallard mix but every year they show up. I have seen more than one pair with these special markings. I finally got close enough one day to get a good photo a few years back.

That's always good news. The Shenango River (lower) has been runing as clear as I've seen in all the years I've fished it. The Walleye seem very healthy looking and make excellent eating. I know some people will disagree because of years past chemicals but the river has a huge volume of water flow year after year. I've seen nothing that will change our mind on Walleye they are firm, healthy, younger river fish. The river Walleye tend to be in the 16"- 20" range and are excellent eating. After all the years of past chemicals dumped in Erie and it's viral algae now present I know Shenango Walleye are no worse off. To me river Walleye, maybe due to cooler tempatures or current flow , have always tasted better. Especially when breaded ( Cheese It's ) and deep fried !

Bringing the thread back to life with some more recent pics.  So far 2013 isn't going nearly as well as 2012, but I've been catching a few fish....
