Pymafish
Pymatuning Walleye and Crappie fishing are improving!

The reasons why they are improving are detailed in the attached #BiologistReport, which also highlights recent Crappie regulatory changes approved by the PFBC. The reasons for carp mortality are also detailed. The detection of invasive White Perch and potential for negative consequences are also made known, with encouragement to anglers to cease stocking any fish in Pymatuning or elsewhere and to clean gear to prevent AIS spread.

Surprised that they caught 270 common carp this year, as last year they caught 181. I would have assumed that they would have caught fewer this year than last with the Koi Herpes die-off. But what do I know, I studied geology not fisheries biology. :)

Got me wondering about the number of carp caught in all available years:
2018- 270
2017-181
2016-225
2014- 698
2012- 1110
2011-2049

What does it all mean? Probably nothing. :)

Pymafish kudos for posting the survey report.  Amazing how quickly the report was published right after the trap net survey.  Makes me wonder if the PFBC does listen, when enough anglers get tired of hearing about trout.

I agree ....almost makes you wonder how many Carp are still over infested in Pymy. The shores were covered with Carp carcasses last summer and fall....yet their numbers remain high according to the net survey.

On my last trip at night boat fishing, we landed only 2 Walleyes but I was amazed at the huge number of baitfish present ....tons of baitfish marked in long stretches...mostly deeper water.
