Sounds weasley, not the usual fox, coyote, coon  dash and dine. Were some carcasses still there?  Of course, 8 would be a nice number for a fox family or a small coyote pack.  Hope you win the battle.

Dang!  As a fellow 'chicken keeper' I am really sorry to hear you are having predator issues. I wish you good luck getting rid of the problem in whatever way works... 'shoot, shovel and shut up' is my preferred method for predators of any type at our place.

4 were taken and 4 left at various points of the woodbine.  The four that were left ranged from no real visible damage to partially eaten.

So many likely varmints from Yotes to Hawks and all sizes in between.
After they are dead and laying there most anything will go for them- not necessarily the initial culprit.
My next door neighbor has the issue constantly. Most chickens don't last too many nights out straying.
Last summer two Bantees disappeared for a few Summer weeks- dead??? nope, they came back in early Fall- seems they roosted every night unlike  some that just sit on the ground.
Good luck Clint.

Lost another hen today.  Killed in the woods line and half eaten.  Mostly the organs.   Building a small chain link fence today with stuff I had around.  No more free range.   I will also build some weasel box traps too.

Good luck Clint I hope ya get the rascal killing your birds.  A man works hard enough caring for his animals an he sure doesn't need another headache.  Be sure to post some pictures if you get the varmint.

Could be coons. I've seen them kill ducks and leave them lay or eat just the organs.

Could be owl's. Eating only the insides. They will take a cat off your porch and never be heard.
