Well I put together a trip to Black lake  Friday to Tuesday instead of going up to the river and fishing. Crappies and perch.

Not going that deep Trev but I think the struggles on the lake as well are going to turn some $$ away there for a few years anyway .
The trib guys with yellow ropes will be ok .

Sorry to hear about changing plans and derailing your thread . Perch taste much better IMO though and fun to catch :)

Aren't you glad you sold yer house. Send all yer comments to DEC and the Pulaski Chamber of Commerce, cause it is no more than singing Kumbaya here!

It is what it is, and the situation on the river has nothing to do with the situation on the lake, except when all those "captains" hit the river, with all the other snaggin' jalormes and  and linin' traif!

And if they really wanted to kill they king fishery they would stock a lot more, crash the bait totally, and the start over with Lake Trout and AS.

If you have something to say to the DEC about the stocking cuts, get it to them before 10/14.  I've posted the links before.

Stocking cuts don't bother me in the least- wish they were deeper to benefit bait stock
Its NOT about fish numbers.
Am not a numbers guy- a fish here or perhaps another there on a different day and I'm satisfied.
Sometimes walk tribs without a rod just to watchem spawn.
Enjoy the whole picture up there.
It was simply time to sell- nothing to do with the fishery.
Actually cutting Kings as little as was done and more or less leaving everything else similar to the past MAY doom Kings for a time.

Those slashers downriver are taking everything not just Kings.
Likely more Hos, Browns  and Steel than before too since there are less Chinook to target.
Got no faith in an AS fishery- lousy returns for all the efforts.

At least another 8 days of the river running at 185. Columbus Day weekend will be a blood bath hope the browns and steel stay out of the river. I'm looking pretty smart right now for staying away

Another thing I have noticed is the lack of steel. I know numbers wise they don't show up till later but I usually see and hear of a few being caught

They don't have to run and quickly spawn like the Kings and the low warm waters are not to their liking.
That said, their numbers have been dismal as well lately-last year wasn't exactly stellar.
Steel ,however , have had many ups and down regardless of present issues over the years IMHO.

Still looking for someone who recalls the big drought years on the lake when bait couldn't even spawn in the low waters of Ontario.
Was it one year or two???
Do recall it being blamed for some return issues back then.
