I thought I should mention that there was still 6" of ice on Arthur last night where i was.  I did not realize it had safe ice this whole time.  Shame.  Lots of guys were out and people were catching nice fish on chubs and shiners...  I'm not sure what the condition would be on the ice this weekend.  PM me if you want to know where I was.

That kind of sucks...  I was hoping Arthur would be cleared by early March.  Not sure if the long term forecast (that changes every day) is cold enough to keep safe ice, but doesn't look warm enough to thaw it quickly.  6" will likely take a while to melt, with highs in 50s and lows in 20s.  Be safe out there.  I'd imagine those highs in the 50s will be enough to cause some weak spots.

Pork,

The guys I spoke with on the ice yesterday told me at noon there was 7" and when they left at about 4PM it was just under 6".  That could have been the soft top layer melting though...

Lake Erie is starting to get a little spotty. We've still got 4-6 inches of ice out on Misery Bay but it's definitely recommended that you bring your spud bar and have a life preserver on whether it be a PFD or some sort of floating jacket/bibs. Stay safe out there!

After the storm that moved through Erie last night, it is expected that most of the ice is just about gone. The high winds are still keeping anglers off the ice so we haven't received a decent report yet but that wind had to have broken up most of the ice.

I guess a guy went through on Mosquito yesterday. They got him out. Dont ever want to see that happen to anyone. Please use caution or just wait a couple more weeks for open water to start.

Good to hear the guy got pulled out. Iceholers need to hear these stories. Make the guys think and hopefully stop them, from going out on bad ice.

Local channels were showing videos of the ice blowing off of Lake Erie.

That was some kinda crazy, in my book.

Iceberg Tsunami ........
