Lead.is.leagl to use just not purchase in sizes under 1/2 oz.
I have tried and have lead wire spools. It's legal to buy as the total.weight of the coil is o er 1/2 oz. It works well aka. Pencil lead. The thing about it is you need a special pair of pliers that once you attend 1 end , the pliers puch a hole in to attach to a snap swivel. It does come with surgical tubing in which you can slip the ad in then attach tubing to the snap swivel, problem is it comes out pretty easily of the tubing and you seem to go through excessively as opposed to attaching the lead directly to th see snap

    Tuna your about 12 hours late last night after work I had to get my daughter from Kennedy airport and on the way home went through Jersey and picked up a bunch from****s. If we are going to see each other this year I have no problem hooking you up. Every time I'm in NJ or PA travelling I pick some up. Out of curiosity, does anyone use lead wire, as in lead core, to add subtle amounts of weight for any given reason?

Also, is lead (core)wire legal to use for fishing in NY?

I've  incorporated pieces of LC-13 and T-17 from 12-18" into leaders using loop to loop attachment. It was OK, but better for streamers than nymphs. The sink rate is slower than having a concentrated weight like lead shot or the tungsten putty.  Sinking leaders are popular with the Spey guys.

Always try to put the putty on a knot and it does slide around as much.

I've tried the tungsten putty but found it slides too much.
