How about how hard those kings pull!! Way to go on that 40. It's a little early for the really big trout but you should get into some 20"s. With most of the first runs over, those trout will be gorging on carcasses. Flesh flies and single eggs patterns should blast em. Are you doing any salt? Nothing like filling the freezer up with halibut and lingcod. Tear'em dude.

Another day of kings, chum, and one sockeye that actually hit.No 40#ers for me but a 35# and lots of smaller kings, even the jacks fought like a champ. There is a father daughter pair in camp and the daughter caught a 50# today, and on top of that she is a really sweet girl of about 18 yr old, that was really a great scene to see.
Not doing any salt pensfan,I don't think there are any charters in the Indian village that is near by,but a friend actually caught a starry flounder on a fly today.WE were fishing in a river about a 1/4 mile from the Bering sea.
Time for bed as I got to venture out early in the AM.

Are you back Jack ?
Many questions I'd like to ask.
It seems my wife and brother in law have been planning a trip to Alaska next year for awhile now and I just found out about this last week.
They are looking at a cruise package but once I found out , there is absolutely now way I am going without fishing involved.
Hope the journey was safe, comfortable and we'll enjoyed

AK Skim
Cruises through Southeast with stops in Ketchikan mostly offer fly out fishing packages for salmon, and boat trips for halibut .

If you want to fish and not pay an arm and a leg ($600+), hop a cab in Ketchikan and head out to Ward Creek and Lake.

Having been all over Alaska from SE,Valdez,  Kenai Cook Inlet, Dutch and Aleutian chain, upwards to St. Paul.

I have learned two things:
1. No such thing as bad weather, on bad clothing
2. There is really no good fishing in Alaska, only CATCHING

No, good fishing only catching? So there is, hope for me yet!!!

Hot Dam screw Pennsyvania Wilds and back...... make mine, Alaska or Bust!!!

Which is exactly what I git up side my head if my better half finds out what I'm thinkin' so let's just keep, the Alaska thingy to our selves, shall we?

Please?

I been advised but not yet decided to fly in and do a land sea package. Start with the land first then rest on the sea later. Another thing was , rain gauges are by the foot not the inch. In some area expect rain every day . Denali is also a must .

Thanks Ak- skim, can't believe I just said that but yes , helpful tips are always helpful.
