If a non fisherperson objects to spending money on Wildlands, bring up the Albany Pine Barrens reserve, and its staff of 13 well paid people. From my perspective in WNY, this is one of the biggest wastes in the Environmental Protection fund, pork for the Albany interests and the bird and bunny (and butterfly)lovers.
The land along the lower SR is all the public access land we've been enjoying since 2005. It is highly unlikely that this acquistion will have any effect on additional crowding as there are limited areas where the water can be easily reached due to the steep gorge sides in many areas. A lot of the acreage is above the Reservoir.

Then compare the yellow areas to the PFR maps on the DEC website. I don't see a big difference, and some areas like from the Altmar Bridge down to the wires are held by easement by NYSDEC, so all that land is for sale by Land First, but will still be accessible for fishing, or so we have been assured by NYSDEC.
It does look like it might include more of the west edge of water (south bank) land from Pineville to 2a, but I'd like to see a more detailed map with the roads on it before I definitely conclude that.
