Mostly smallmouth, walleye and musky are the sought-after fish in french creek. Trout are all but not existent in the large creek, as it is not stocked and just tends to not hold trout. Popular spots are the boat launch in saegertown and shaws landing between cochranton and meadville. They are all easily fishable from shore. Boating is very easy near shaws landing as from the bridge all the way down to the railroad bridge just before cochranton is open water for boating as long as water isnt at an extremely shallow state.

also theres a lot of warm water running through the titusville segment of french, its hit or miss. I fish behind the old toy factory sometimes pick up some big brownies in the 16-18 inch class on nymphs and even sometimes pull out an ultralight

Try Little Sandy in Polk if you fly fish (delayed harvest), its one of the premier trout fisheries in the area. Justice lake just got stocked on weds if your interested in ice fishing for trout as well.
