Only sadness is seeing it not get used. I have far to much stuff that sits idle. When I use it , it reminds me why I don't anymore, I'm in my 50's and not a young buck that can haul heavy gear.
It's not that the stuff is junk or useless but it seems my regular gear became Regular.

Being burned out is an understatement. Since that day I fished with Jack on the SR in September, I haven't had any real rest from hunting and fishing. It's consumed all my non work days.
Yeah I'm burnt out.
It's been a heavy wet snow all day, which don't help, and expected to accumulate over the next 3 days. Dragging and walking a sled through a foot of snow is going to be another reality check next weekend. Sticking local for sure. I need another few freezerbags of panfish. They never last long here and I'm mty.

Well todays drag was a heart attack on a sled. Seems they got 1.5 feet up at the pond overnight.  A few small ones and Only a few keepers. What I did catch was a Cisco today. It was 14-15 long. Never caught one , so I can mark it off my list.

I'm going very light tomorrow. Jet sled and light suitcase clam 2000.
Probably set some traps and pull the suitcase shanty a few times to jig.
Nice thing is it's roomy , light and easily foldable.
Not a fan of snow

The conditions exceeded my expectations. The snow blew off and settled tight. The fishing again is defeating. Resorted to tip ups so grandkids could chase flags. All in good fun on a beautiful February day.

Although i was warm it was a tough weekend fishing. 4 shanties and bunch of gear saturated. I was the only fool out there today, 1 for 4 for any numbers guys. Easy to keep track on those terms.
The lake started to become well , a lake again.
Temps rising through the week won't help locally. Mud season.
Up north on the biggest lakes will be sloppy but fine for a LONG time to come.

L-13,
Your thread about Oneida snagging got buried quickly as nobody cares about discussing the great SR, river salmon debate. That site is more concerned about ice fishing, you know, fishing.
Not everyone is a snagger as some make them out to seem, including the Dec.
Unfortunately, those who are try to justify themselves.
Do you make me feel uncomfortable or sensitive if I respond, not in the least.
I point out the facts of fishing or as things are sometimes called, blood sports. I tend to spend much more time in the outdoors being a realist rather than on websites trying to make self determinations.
For the record, I have never ice fished Oneida but have open water dragging worm harnesses during summer, once.

Not following game laws and regulations is wrong , to label anyone who questions the intent of such sportsman that encounter a mistake or misfortune is also wrong. As per Dec regulations, it's not a violation if your intentions are to abide by the regulations.

My rant is over and I hope yours is too.
Right now I'm busy get gear ready for a week long lake trout ice fishing adventure.
Just another trip outta the house doing what I enjoy.

Most threads on the discussion pages of Ice shanty get buried fast, sorry you thought maybe I was a taking a shot at Lake George.  I did get my answer, there are poachers out on Oneida, too, however they're doing it, maybe using the new technology, maybe just cranking away with a big heavy pimple or a piece of sink trap festooned with treble hooks.  And I know they yank 'em up Fish Creek but that announcement said nothing about the creek, it mentioned the lake, and the creek doesn't became an issue for almost 3 months.

It is good to hear that you agree that all these liners and lifters are wrong, and I don't argue with the guy who has one outside once in a while (if it get broken off, or goes right back if he can't tell 'til it's landed) but you know as well as I do that a lot of these guys are just banging them in the head all day long, and your chance at a fair fish goes way down with that happening.  And the slope is getting more slippery again, early steel was a lot of poachers last fall, it'll be worse this year unless something happens. And not a lot will happen if the only thing being said is quiet and inside some popup some place while lurking on a cell phone.

Back to ice. I hit Eel bay today, just shy of the Canadian border. Water is clear as glass and when the fish are down there you just have your pick. No fish finder needed.  We brought home about 30 perch, but no slime logs caught. We did see two  swim by that were easily in the 30's, one I got to snap at my jig, but it instantaneously thrashed it's head and snapped my 2# test. No flags on the dozen or so tip ups  we had out.

2 beautiful days over deep waters and 2 feet of ice. Zero blood on the ice. Lots of fish chasing my lures and bait. Some mighty big. I have even repeatedly jerked my rod in effort without success while they stare at my lure and me into the hole. Guess the only way to catch them is go snatching, lol.
Maybe tomorrow will be that day I don't get skunked
