Packed and stacked for 2 days on local panfish ground.
Cover not on yet till morning but bringing pop up shanty due to winds factor.
Flip over is get there and recon duty. Surprisingly light and compact, until I bring out the " wall of sound " speakers, lol.
Have fun to all as my endless ice fishing continues on my days off.

For a day always to remember here.
On this day , space shuttle challenger exploded around 11am. My twin boys came into this world at 5pm.
Fantastic to be able to enjoy their time together with me .

Well its been the same story for me the last two weekends. "'we killed them over here''.  But where I was sitting we struggled. No pike flags and a few perch an hour that you worked for. Weather ad company make it all worthwhile though

So tomorrow we are going to assault the great lake called the Queen of lakes again.
With a size limit of 23" of Lakers, the ones you catch or not are of quality. It's an all natural reproduction lake
The annual winter carnival starts as well for the next 28days so they will be activity abound. Given the best conditions in 2 years, races will take place on the lake. Those include, ice motorcycles, boats , atvs and snow cross.
Many people will converge for live entertainment, great stuff for a summer rich economy to cash in on the winter.
None of that will (should) effect my strategy except push those would be southern lake guys up where we are at. It's a big lake . 2 weeks ago I'd guess where we were there were 200 ppl with plenty room. Tomorrow possibly 300. It's not like standing in the town pool, lol.

I'm packed with my bigger 2 man flip over.
It's an absolute beast. Weighting in at 80 lbs mty. With my gear and beverages, I'd guess another 60-80. I'm not even doing tip ups.
None of this ( buyer hint) would not be possible without
1. A machine to haul the gear. I'd guess we will put miles on tomorrow.
2. Clear ice. I wouldn't be moving around much if I had to drag through snow.
The atv or snowmobile usually just gets us there and back. I'll take it.

Good luck to all that venture into the great tundra.

Huge swing and miss today.
Surprised at the few anglers out.
Must be the fish only bite on Sundays.

Taking the weekend off I think, trying to kick the sore throat.  On a side note I am trying to plan a Québec trip for pike and eyes this summerish. The guys I usually go with are getting older and I think we may have to break down and stay in a cabin and to do that we will need to fish a neighboring lake, but its the company I am going for.

I'm so disappointed from yesterday's episode, I'm going through my gear and going to liquidate a LOT.
The shappell fx 150 is an absolute beast. Even using the atv and me mostly dragging it around (with ease on clear ice ) it's just to big and heavy for the benifts of my usage.
It's almost like new but gotta go.
I have 2 gas augers. I start and run them for equipment purposes but never use them . Gotta go.
Pulled a suitcase clam 2000 outta hibernation today, it's in great shape but gotta go.

Maybe my kids will want some of this for free but if not it's taking up space getting wasted while it could serve another well.

Sorry to rant but I'm depressed about what should have and could have been.
Still another solid 50 days to go but I must say,
I can't wait to fish the mighty muddy hudson , wade the ausable or sit on an island digging clams soon

Kinda sad , but that is another reason I sat this weekend out.  Did not want to get burnt out with the poor bite. As far as gear I am finishing up this year with what I have, but will probably get a drill adaptor for my Nils . Going alone and usually drilling about 10holes it seems like a win, win and I get a new drill for my use.
