Welll- never made trip #3-
Deer got in the way.

Have been trying to make it up to myself watching you tube SR fishing every morning after my putor news fix.
Not the same as being there------

Have noticed one thing on those homemade videos-
Sooo many fisher folks holding their rods way above the cork while fighting strong fish.

Never saw one with a broken rod but thats like flirting with a rattler- sooner or later its gonna happen.

Gonna have to make a Spring drop back trip -or go more nuts.

Good luck to all you ice folks..

I saw one snapped last year. Guy had the rod sideways and his other hand up by the first eye. Foul hooked fish headed to fast water. The hero shot was more important than the rod I guess. Sounded like a 22 going off

Been trying to get up for Spring Steel-
life-the weather and the water levels have yet to all come together .
Prefer the 5 wt fly rod in spring and 1500 levels are kinda prohibitive for me.
was hoping for next week and now hear snow and freezing rain with another bump in levels upcoming.

Folks have been buzzing about a bump for two weeks, and even with some precip, it didn't happen.  The forecast ( Fulton) looks pretty good for next week.  There have been no reports of landmark fishing for dark fish, and there are still occasional reports of bright hard ones.  As of last week, there were still trout in the Finger Lakes tribs and the suckers had not run yet.  We're figuring on another two or three weeks of at least spotty fishing down there, I would expect the same on the Salmon.  If schedules mesh next week, we are likely to be on the river for a couple of days, Tuesday and Wednesday look to be stellar weather, and Thursday Friday are 50-50 on precip, and not this miserable 34° F stuff we've been enjoying.

I don't know. If I had a chance to go , I'm sure you'd be able to have a good opportunity to catch fish. There were enough around regardless of the flows , which have been much better than last year.
As you can see, it's on the drop

Pretty sure my great lakes adventures trips are on hold this summer. It's certainly not for the love of the lake but much and many duities happening here. Probably just do a 1 and done few days out there. Fall is looking no better for me either. Some trips already planned with the wife Sept and early October , lukas Nelson, Neil Young and alice cooper then it's all about sitting in a tree again. If the freezer fills and the urge grows before the ice does, there is a shot.
Can't believe I'm already talking or writing off 2018
