Hey guys, I wondered if anyone has any info on catching walleye on the Clarion River, Piney Dam? Tactics, tips, any info would be appreciated. I'm relatively new to the area and would like to catch some eyes.

Thanks in advance

Gee, I thought I was the only one that knew there are 'eyes there.  Now that the secret is out........I usually troll lead core with hot n tots or wally divers.  My best luck is with anything green.  Will pull harnesses from time to time and throw jigs into the shore line with 1/2 a crawler.  It takes a constant eye pulling cranks though.  There can be some depth changes that come on quick so an eye on the electronics can warn you when you need to crank up some or speed up.  Did not fish one day last year there as I pretty much stuck with Erie and Pymy.  Hope to get down there for the opening day this year.  When the weather starts to warm up, stay home on the weekends.  Way too many skiers and pleasure boats.  If the weekends are the only time you can get out, go early or late evening.

I've heard good reports of walleye fishing above Millcreek, and the amount of boats I see trolling suggests that there are indeed catchable walleye in the river. I have caught a few over the years between Toby and the I-80 bridge.

Early above Mill Creek but as summer gets going and especially in the fall, below Mill Creek.  My best was 29" in the fall, jigging blade baits.  Trolling, in the 16" to 18" range.  Never limited and skunked more than enough times but you can manage a few from time to time.

The greatest thing about fishing the Clarion River is when you set that hook you can never be 100% positive of what is on the other end ... especially drifting night crawlers

I have never fished the area the guys above are talking about for walleyes.. but what they are telling you is the same thing I have heard.. I just never venture that far away from home

I have landed walleyes near Hallton and even up as far as Portland MIlls... here's one of them
