I spent a couple hours fishing Toby Creek at the "old tressle hole" near Portland Mills this morning. I landed three small Brookies and one fairly nice Brown Trout. I also missed a couple hits, the trout were not hitting hard, just a nibbling feel. I had fun and that's all that is important to me... here's the Brown Trout ....

EM and I were there weekend before last exploring the area. Beautiful places to fish up there and we plan to go back. He caught an 18" redhorse sucker while we were checking things out. Looks like that area would be a great place to wet wade when the waters calm down a bit as the summer wears on.

This must be one of those fishes that EM caught.. I hooked one this afternoon on the Clarion at Hallton Canoe Launch and a nice Brook Trout..

Yep, just like that one.... I set a line thinking I'd find a channel cat or two, and ErieMako ended up catching the sucker on it instead, we snapped a bunch of pics of it's fins and other distinguishing marks to figure out exactly what kind it was. There are like 5 types of the redhorse sucker in Pa...

how has the river around hallton been for trout latly.  Might be up that way Saturday.  wondering if it would be worth a trip down to the river.
 

Today was not very productive.. but I also fished at a bad time = 3-5pm... water level is about normal once again.. earlier or later in the day may be more productive...

I caught a sucker on a 5 ft St. Croix within the first half hour of trout. It was awesome but dissapointing. It felt like a log, and at first I thought it was a big brown. But it wasnt, neither the less it gave a heck of a fight.

maybe it was the model of your St. Croix that made it feel like a big brown..lol
