It takes years to get to know the water and how to figure out the conditions.  The guys on here are good fishermen and good guys, but other than general information like check the fishing reports or check the gauges...you are not going to find people who will spot burn.
If you really want to fish (not snag, lift, floss or what ever you want to call the illegal taking of fish), find a deep hole, put on some real bait and pretend you are trout fishing.

BeenThereDoneThat.
When I fished for t... ttro... taaarout many many "many" years ago, my go to rigs for deep pools was a 4" pink & yellow plastic bobber and a full night crawler impaled upon a 1-0 hook dangling from a 10' bamboo noodle rod.

Funny, how one remembers the days gone by when I didn't catch any stupid fish then and didn't care either.😳

Ahh... the memories.😭

Flow = Fish = People

Flow = Fish = People....OMG, what a horror, folks fishing for fish. Are you a PETA memeber?

On Trout and Orwell Brooks this time of year what we have are poachers, many from out of state, removing the spawners using whatever method they want.  Many of us here support closure of those tribs because they have been so heavily abused and they are a big part of the natural reproduction documented for the Salmon River system.  If your friend needs smaller water, maybe you should head west to the Erie tribs in PA, those guys will be happy to point out all the good stretches and tell you exactly what the conditions are.  I'm a card carrying member of PITA when it comes to spot burning requests, Pain In The A**.

Winner there Charlie.  If those people were actually fishing and not hunting and poaching there would be less animosity towards giving out info. I have seen rock throwing, herding, netting , snagging, tailing, chasing and just about everything. Let's face it those creeks are raped and sodomized every year.  Fish are easy pickings due to nowhere to hide, so yes My PITA card is in effect for those  places. It's easy enough to check the gauges, check the weather or shoot a pm.  If not make the dive and spend your money..........

Orwell was a big reason I bought my place up there- haven't fished it in some time now cause its a s- show.
After the big flood year far too many people were  'referred' to it and found the snagging in there  to their liking.
Too bad -it used to a great place for a nice day of FISHING.
I understand why they talk of creating a NO area there for spawning- used to be dead set against it but now ???

When we started Steelhead fishing last fall, the lot at Trout was filled every day.  Should have been easy pickings for an Encon Officer.

ENCON was very well represented in most lots the past few days. GOOD.

I have fished all this tribs for years, so “spot burning” = n/a. You peta folks need to relax and learn to enjoy life. :-). FT

Hey!, isn't it the time of year that CHARTLIST starts coming on here talking about how he is fly fishing with 5 sinkers and his 1/0 hooks?

He'll be on the DSR next week or the week after for celebration of Columbus, he says he will not be slumming with the commoners up in Altmar this year, and he had to rent in Watertown because he waited too long to pull the trigger on dates.
