About a month ago I decided I would try fishing for native brookies. I made four trips out in pursuit of them over the last month, one of which I wandered deserted forest roads for a couple hours in search of my car afterwards. Cell phone GPS has a way of only working when you know where you are.

Natives are a hoot. Some really nice scenery out there, too. You get the best of both worlds when you're on the native prowl.

I wont be fishing for wild trout this weekend, but thanks to this thread, ive been inspired to drive a little farther away, to somewhere a little more remote, and probably catch smaller fish. But i think it will be a lot more fun just being away from it all.

never nice strain of brooks. The one with the gill exposed and missing bottom jaw looks to have been through heck.
