What we always called the "back water" or the pool created by the dam is good fishing for perch, crappie, sunfish, catfish, carp, walleye and tiger muskie and you'll even catch the occasional trout. Small jigs tipped with maggots always seem to work. If you're seeking swift water you'll have to at least head to the Fisher area which isn't real far from town, or head further up stream to the Cook Forest area or Halton/Belltown area even further up stream.

If you don't have a ton of time and want to fish by the Toby or 322 bridges, I would take two rods and bait one up for carp/catfish and cast the other for perch etc.

I literally grew up on that stretch of water and my parents still live within 50' of it. Shoot me a PM the next time you're coming up, if I have some free time I'd be glad to show you a couple of places you can get to fairly easily...
