Anyone know why Yellow Creek Lake is drawn down.  Must be a reason.  Can not launch a boat and the beach is closed.

This is only a guess…. About 2-3 miles south of the lake is a small reservoir, I believe used by Homer City for water supply. I forget exactly what municipality it was that had signs up around it. I imagine that it needs to be a certain level for municipal use, if still being used for that purpose. With the drought conditions, I’d imagine they may need to release enough water from the main lake to keep this one filled.

Right from the DCNR website for Yellow Creek State Park

"Due to lack of precipitation the lake level has dropped significantly. This has resulted in limited use of the beach and the boat docks and launches. Park visitors are encouraged to use the boat launch at North Shore. Please use extra caution."
