Woke up to a 3-dog barking alarm. Looked outside and there were about a dozen geese bravely walking within 30 yards of the kennel. After getting the mutts calmed down at this intrusion, we sat down with our morning beverages and enjoyed the sun coming up between the tops of the mountains. In the 45 or so minutes we were there, several hummingbirds visited my wife’s porch flowers, the gold finishes bobbed around the small trees which line the wildflower garden, a kingfisher made it way from the neighbor’s pond to the creek with a pair of herons to follow, and the killdeer were out doing whatever the killdeer do. All that was missing, for a moment, we’re done deer. But a doe and growing fawn popped out of the woods for a bite of clover for a while, completing this morning’s fun stuff.
