I made a springtime droppy trip to the SR this past Sunday fishing Monday and Tuesday.  Fishing was a grind but I managed 5/7 each day including a nice Skamania on the second day.  I lost a few nice fish that were in the 30"+ range after lengthy battles.  Almost all the fish were hooked in heavy riffles or on the soft edge adjacent to the riffles.  All in all it wasn't a bad trip.

FYI- it appears that didymo has made its way into the SR.  The green slime was constantly fouling hook and shot.

This weekend was fun Stuff. Splashdown went extremely well. Sleeping on the water was awesome. Got to share good times with old friends and new . Seen my first live music gig in over 18 months and we even caught a few fishies.
3 more adventurous weeks ahead.

Glad to see someone still knows how to catch fish -
Congrats Rich.

Went out this AM looking for a crop damage Deer- none came by but it was a nice way to check up on the Turkey population  since that season is upcoming.
They have been down the past couple of seasons on this farm.

4 gobblers sounded off bout 5/15 around 75 yards behind me on a ridge as I sat on a field edge.
The gobblers and a hen dropped down bout 5/40 and the hen walked right up to me about 8 feet away bringing 3 jakes with her-then a full strut gobbler came down the tree line and all walked slowly off.
For a bit there had 4 Toms and the hen within 15 yards.

The big Tom came back an hour later and walked right by sounding off like crazy as a 5th Tom started sounding off on that ridge behind me and another hen could be heard clucking up there.

( with my luck lately as far as catching goes I predict never to see or hear those birds again- in my life)

GREAT DAY

Turkeys doing the silent thing- all with hens  right now- see them walking in the distance and Quiet.
Not on the normal roosts either the past few days.
Havent heard one gobble or had an answer in 3 days of hard hunting.
It will change soon- unless my prediction of the last post comes true, lol.

What a difference from 2 days before when scouting.

Well rg, you got into the great outdoors. It seems that is your goal and a good thing indeed. I'm stuck in a mighty muddy river right now and the catching ain't happening either. What a difference the weather makes.
Great thing is it's all fun stuff as long as we're able.

Rich --GREAT fish---

Been trying for henned up Turkeys for days  - gobble on the roost and then go silent with  hens.
Have watched them from afar and tried to get one to veer off without any luck.
Today no dawn gobbling or sightings then about 645 hear a gobble or two from well over 600 yards
What the heck he's far off and strutting soooo gave a long loud cackle--he responded but wouldn't move.
I went about halfway to him as he sounded off now and then and took up a spot and gave a softer cackle.
He had been so far off I had barely been able to hear him and he was still a few hundred yards off on another property.
He went silent- and I hoped he was coming in quiet- orrr he could have folded up and left ????
Half hour later I took a different call ( like to change the voice now and then) and peeped and gave a soft cluck.
Minutes later---
There he was sneaking in on me--- big  long double beard.
Got him at 755- had taken over an hour to work him
LOVE IT
Can take 5 a year here but I have a one and done mentality with lower numbers out there so its over this year.

Now for those crop damage Deer I have been seeing.
