Oh the weather.... I asked Clint to give a weather post and I'm glad to revisit his thread.
It seems these days a weather event, no matter how big or small, makes for dramatic news.
Well yes, right now as I write has been our first below zero temperature of the winter and it's a major deal according to the box on the stand. Yes, freezing temperatures are truly deadly to our people and property but it seems like it's something that's never happened before.
Maybe we've been spoiled.

It's the days of sustained below zero that I'm accustomed to in the past that really made you scramble to maintain. Heck, it's supposed to be in the 40's in 2 days..
Ice fishing conditions have been pretty much terrible all season below the blue line ( adks) and even on the north western part of new York.

Back in the day, when I asked Clint to start a Salmon river weather thread, it wasn't about the sub zero temperatures of the area, we both fished together in, it was mostly about snow amounts and runoff conditions for fishing the river.
We've come a long ways but I'll take cold over snow, mud or heat.
Stay safe and warm.
Thanks for the ice dance Jack. 👍

As I look out the window at a light dusting cant help but recall looking out at a couple of feet in the past around this same time of year -
if this is global warming I will take it happily.

Recall a story in the news long ago about scientists looking at hundreds of years old native seaside fishing camps that were exposed after a hurricane on Cape Cod.
Turned out they were burning some kind of wood in their fires thats only now found in the far north country  hundreds of miles away.
Guess nature has been changing with or without us all along

Right now at Mt. Washington New Hampshire  it is -46* and -106* with the 103 mph wind. Think I'll take the snow. Slippery Rock Pa where I live it was around -40* wind chill Christmas Eve.

Out of my 3 houses, only 1 frozen pipe. It was a doozie though and had to do plumbing and construction repair.
My fault, well, I'm not the resident. Wasn't the cold that snakebit, the wind did the damage to hit the waterline.

Going to be close as cold tonight but no wind so I'm pretty confident I'll be walking on forzen water instead of trying to thaw it out.

-only recall one Feb with only few inches  snow in Pulaski but plenty up on Tug where the X country place was located
surprising to look at the river cam and see so little white stuff -if any at all--this year
