What a pain that was,the blower kept blocking up with the slushy soup Ma Nature dumped on my 200 ft + long driveway. Finally threw in the towel with about 1/2 the drive cleared, this is the worst type of condition it could be.Screw it,I'm going to watch the games for the rest of the day

I just finished for the day plowing with ATV.
It turned to freezing rain hard for about an hr then and still snowing.
Got an additional 3" . Probably total 10-12 on ground .
Getting ready for a perch fry and leftover Wellington. I'll deal with touch up over the week. Heard it my get to 40' after this artic air moves out mid week. Sure hope so as I have a cub scout ice fishing trip next weekend on this local lake.
I'm sure it doesn't look like it did yesterday

The bright side is its still pretty light out at 5pm.
The time will come, we can't stop it.
3 more weekends on the ice for now than I'll be casting a rod into fridged icy moving water, just to say so, I'm a steelheader, lol.

Single digits with wind chill -21. Even the dog doesn't want to venture out to do her business.  Driveway was a sheet of ice this morning leaving no choice but to have it sanded and salted.

We hit negative 8.4 at my house last night. High only got to 7 above but a brutal wind all day. My co workers really struggled outdoors today. We have some places that are 400 feet tall and all exposed to work in.

This is NOT the type of cold I wish for. The snow made it twice as miserable.
Walking into my house just now its 40 degrees, typically its 50.
Stay safe folks, tonight is going to get worse

2 hrs later we are up to 68 degrees. Once wife fires up the oven for dinner it will be 75 . We run this way because nobody is home all day. My job is to get woodstove going at 4:30 then it doesn't take much to heat up a 1 level well insulated 2,000 square foot home.
Its wasteful to heat an empty house, smarter to just maintain from freezing

I like my (OLD) Hearthstone Soapstone 1. Have used it for yrs. , bought used for $300 will heat up to 18 hrs., 26" logs, 100,000 btu / hr nice even heat not like a cast iron stove that get hot/cold fast. Heats our 2 story early 1800 house 78* in these single digit days/nights. Helps the chimney goes up center of house to distribute heat better. It weighs 730 lb. though. Loads from the side or front. Great oven to cook in when coals are not overly hot. Very nice to look at & can use like a fireplace with screen if wanted.

They are pricey new (soapstone) but come up used on the net sometimes reasonable.
