Gonna throw it here . Man it was cold as heck out there today. 5 degrees at start, blue skies, light winds with heck of a bite.
If only the fishing was as good. Thought we in in money with 5 quick perch and a fat rainbow jigging but it went completely dead.
The ice was growing and popping with the sunshine.
35 minutes north from my house there was 10" and growing.
If you didn't tend tip ups , they were frozen solid in just over an hr , all day.

Only good thing now is I will be fishing a long while yet.
Sure don't need ANY. Snow..

How's this....Sunday snow turning to rain,then temps in the high 40's dropping to near zero.anything that is wet will become ice! I can't wait for spring,screw this time of year.

Let me know when Spring arrives in the Keystone, will ya guys?

Those guys catching anything?

JM the one guy I spoke with showed me some White Fish(?) he had caught but he said trout and snapper fishing has been slow.

Weather here has been fluctuating with cold fronts coming oint the area about every 5 to 6 days. We just had night time temps in the upper 30s the past two nights. Next few days those temps are to be in the 50s to 60s with day time highs in the 70s but next Sunday the weather takes another dump with lows touching upper 20s.

I have noooo idea if that affects fishing the Gulf or not. Locals say this is below normal temps for the region.

I did like the beach carts those fellas was using. I'm thinking the carts would work good on the ice and snow with the big baloney tires they have.

They were probably whiting. Pretty common. Supposed to be good eating, but I never tried any. 

That's what the guy said.... excellent eating and no limit.

He and his buddy were packing it up and I did not want to hold him up with questions (yes I did) but it was a bit windy bringing the wind chills into the upper 40s. Dudes where dressed in heavy clothing but had enough of the cold temps and there I was in all my tourist glory, flip flops, jeans and tee shirt. Spring is in the air!!!

Did I mention I need to work on my tan?

We just canceled our motel up north on schroon lake for Saturday night.
They are expecting 18-24" snow with 40mph winds Saturday night through Sunday.
We are still fishing for Lakers Saturday but while I love ice fishing, I don't that much to sit in a blizzard

I just seen on TWC a reporter interviewing some dude from PENNDOT. regarding "pre-treating" the roads cause it's gonna snow.

IMAGINE THAT!!! Snow in Penn's Woods..... who knew???

As for "pre-treating" roads wellll, that's a topic for another day... Isn't it.
