Happy.....how soon will the stripers be in the Philly area? I've never fished for them, in fact I've never fished in the Delaware or anywhere in the east. I live in the southwest but have had ideas of traveling east to fish the Delaware. Any tips on easily accessable launches around or south of Philly. Only have an 18 foot boat.

tippytoe, if you want to fish for shad you may have to wait awhile longer because the Delaware river is high, murky and cold from the up state snow melt off. Just hope that by April 30th. all will be fine.

wallycat, if you want to fish for wild trout then you want to head up to the upper Delaware. A good place to start would be at Junction Pool. That`s where the East and West branch of the Delaware meet. I gaurantee you that you will have plenty of room to fish. Plus big fish. You may even be able to float the river with your boat if it is a flat bottom.

WALLEY CAT--- STRIPERS ARE ALL UP AND DOWN THE DELAWARE. I LIVE IN EASTON AND THEY CATCH STRIPERS BETWEEN HERE AND BELVIDERE ,NEW JERSEY. UP TO THE 40 INCH PLUS SIZE. THEY GO AS FAR UP THE DELAWARE AS THEY CAN. LAST YEAR MY SON IN LAW AND I WERE FISHING FOR TROUT AND AS WE APPROACHED THE BIRMINGHAM BOAT LAUNCH, THAT`S BELOW HANCOCK, N.Y. ,WE SAW A LARGE STRIPER PLUCK A SMALL DUCK OFF THE SURFACE. THE DUCK FLAPPED ONE WING AND IT WAS GONE. AROUND OUR AREA THEY USE LIVER OR EELS FOR STRIPERS. I CAN`T HELP YOU OUT FOR INFO BELOW PHILLIE . I KNOW THE WATER IS SOMEWHAT MURKY AT TIMES. THE WATER ABOVE PHILLIE IS GOOD AND ALSO A GOOD PLACE FOR SHAD. THEY HAVE A SHAD TOURNEY IN EASTON THAT LASTS ABOUT A WEEK. THE PRIZE MONEY IS PRETTY DECENT. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.

Steve, thanks for the info. Only fished for Shad once, usually too busy chasin the pellet heads that time of year. I haven't fished the Delaware by you for quite sometime...too long actually.
