Bluegill dying

We have a small farm pond that has Bluegill, bass, and crappie in it.  There isn't anything huge but there are alot of fish.  Recently we have noticed alot of Bluegill dying...about 100 dead ones were pulled out a few nights ago.  Up to this point we having notices any other fish.  The pond is surrounded by feilds and the farmer hasn't sprayed or done anything abnormal in the feilds around the pond latly (he has even spray in years past and nothing happened).  The pond gets alot of sun and has alot of alge but it has been like this for years. Also I couldn't imagine this many dieing from over population so suddenly. My family all have their theorys but none are to solid.  Anyone have any ideas?
