What to do with a trophy fish

From yesterday morning.....

Land the fish and take a picture

Make sure the fish is ready to be released

Release the fish so that someone else can have the joy of catching the same fish.

Nice Marker Jeremy.  How many other guys were crowding you to get a crack at it?  Did it take an egg pattern?

There were two of them, guys walked past it all morning long never even saw it. I didnt see it till i fished the run for a couple minutes. It took a soft hackle hares ear. I tried eggs first, wouldnt even look.

It was in some heavy water. It took 5bb shots to get the flies down.

nice catch around here, every fair weather fisherman would have the poor thing surrounded and probably succumed to a rooster tail in the pectoral fin lol.

My question is, where were you fishing, in the morning no less, in a t-shirt?

    Nice fish by the way.

Mountain Man's way of dealin' with trophy fish (all carp go back!)
    Land fish take pic
    Gently put fish on stringer
Take fish home and fry it up and enjoy it

Nice fish JLH...I fished for a golden on and off all day on Sat...wouldnt take a thing....and believe me - I tried it all...

Caught a HUGE rainbow - went prolly 26" maybe 3-4 lbs I'm guessing....Decided to rope 'em.....walked it up to camp and tied it off on a log with a GOOD knot....Talked to this old guy that was WET from going in over his hip waders....said he didnt catch anything all morning (prolly got there late)......

Shoulda known then somthing was up...the old fart was sweating....

Went up to camp (60 yards away)....ate a quick lunch....Walked back behind camp to where fish WAS and it was GONE...

    Never had one stolen before....

Ranks right up there with the wonderful bunch of guys fishing the Milesburg hole under the bridge. F@*$ this and F@*$ that, yelling, carrying on everytime they had a bite. My 13 year old son finally had enough and went to the truck. He couldn't understand why they had to act so obnoxious, and was sick of listening to them. They pretty much managed to clear the area of everyone. Thanks guys, you made such a wonderful impression on my son!!
