It is very cool for the experience.  As most others have stated, the aquarium is great, especially if you have kids.  The displays and restaurant make it worth it.  Easy to kill 2-3 hours and then some.  Sportsman's warehouse definitely has them beat on pricing.

I agree with most here too.  Been there once, my first time to any Cabelas.  Myself, once is enough.  Nice, but enjoyed the Gander in Washington on the way back MUCH more.  More fishing selection at a much better price I thought.  Looks like I better stop at the Sportsman Wharehouse next time.

Those that have been to the Dundee store...what does it have that the WV store does not?  I've been to the Dundee store several times (it's just down the road from Brooklyn MI, where the NASCAR track is), just wondering, thought they were all pretty much the same?

Anyway, Cabela's definitely gets the vote for the experience, 1000's of mounts, aquariums creek/trout pond, food, etc.  It's almost like going to a museum.

Gander Mountain in Washington, PA is nothing the like the Gander Mountains in the Pittsburgh and Erie.
It's way, way bigger. Much better than the little Gander Mountains.

If your going to Cabela's, stop at this store on your way back to Pittsburgh. It's the exit right after
the ballpark on Route 70. As your on 70, look off to your right you can see. I believe it's the first two
rights after exiting. In January we went to Cabela's and that was my first time at the Gander mountain.
Give it a try. You'll be surprised.

That Gander Mountain is very nice.

Go once for the experience, but go early like 9 am, before the crowd pours in, but their fishing tackle isnt that great, no comparison to Bass Pro in Harrisburg, if gas prices didnt suck I'd make the 4 hour drive over the 1 drive[cabelas]

I like both Cabela's and Sportsman's Warehouse. I think the prices and selection are better at Sportsman's, but I like Cabelas as a destination. I especially like the Cabela's brand items like waders and rods and reels, their stuff is high quality and they stand behind everything they sale. Unfortunately I usually spend some money at either store.

I like cabela's but for the last year everytime I order
from their book 3 or 4 items are out of stock & you have
to wait. What I do like is the way they handle there gurante
& if you have a problem send it back & no problem.
the WV store I do not like but the other 5 stores I have been in
were good & I do like sportmans warehouse & I have been in
the one in pittsburg & colorado springs & anchorage, alaska
good store

We drove all the way to Cabelas because they have women's waders in their catalog, to find out that they don't carry them in the store.
It's worth checking out, but if you are going for something specific it's a good idea to call first.
I've heard good things about the Gander Mtn in Washington too but haven't been there yet.

Where is Sportsman's Warehouse?

I live about 20 minutes from Cabela's, and I usually make the drive to Sportsman's warehouse instead, better selection and better prices.

Been to cabelas many times. mostly to return stuff I bought from the catalog. Great return policy...the bargain room ain't no bargain at all. looks like rejects from a rummage sale and the prices aren't much different than on the floor. It's perception not value that gets some folks and I think the store counts on that. I have found bargains while walking around like frogg toggs closeout $19.95 etc. Just have to go in and hope you get lucky. Mostly I order from the catalog and save the fuel even though it's only 20 minutes to get there. Fish USA, Sportsman's Warehouse, P.R. Bass Pro, Gander (washington) they all get my money sooner or later.

I agree for the most part about the bargain cave, however occasionally you do find a gem.  Two weeks ago I got a cover for my boat, which is an odd size, marked down from $149 to $34.99.  I don't find something everytime I am in there, but occasionally it is worth it.  Most items are not that much cheaper in there though

Where is Sportsman's Warehouse?

Off of the Camp Horne Run exit on 279 north of Pittsburgh.  Sits way up on a hill (on your left if you're driving southbound from Cranberry) in a shopping center.

Cabelas WV,poor service,a lot of rookies work their,my 23 year old son knows more than most, have to take a number to ask a question at gun counter, they don't have everthing that's in catalog, they do have a ton of stuff, been their 3 times and spent a ton of money, mostly on new goose decoy's and lay out blinds,a case of steel shot, and some clothing, the mounts and aquarium are great, prices are not that good, whats gets me is very little stuff is made in USA,I like the Dundee store was much nicer, plus you pay tax, bargin bin is 99%junk,but you gotta go,it's the 8th wonder of the world.

I live 20 minutes from Cabela's and have to drive past Gander Mountain in Washington to get there.  I went to Cabela's four times before I bought anything because I couldn't find anything I wanted.  The first time was the week they opened, which, if I remember correctly, was in the month of September.  I went into the fly shop to check their steelhead supplies and they had nothing.  I asked why considering the number of guys in the area that fish steelhead, and the clerk said they only get what corporate wants them to stock.  The only time I go now is if someone gives me gift cards or if I'm bored and want to walk around and look at the displays and gun library.

Gander mountain is actually only a few pennies cheaper than Cabela's, but when you factor in the extra fuel and the additional sales tax, along with the fact that they have more Great Lakes fishing supplies, it just doesn't make sense to go there to buy anything.

Gentlemen,
Cabelas in WV, good for a visit but way pricy.  Bass Pro in Nashville, expensive and to me at least very elitist.  Bass Pro in Jeffersonville Indiana, pretty neat but trying too hard to be a clothing store and high end fishing store, but their fly fishing staff is very good.  Dundee Michigan,  way better than WV but still just for looks, no great bargains.
For fishing IMHO you really can't go wrong with Fish USA and for bargains PR's.
