Steelhead at Elk creek access??

My friend and I are looking to come up and fish for steelhead either Friday or Saturday.  Fridays forecast shows a high of 42* low of 39*.  Saturday is high 51* low 38*.  I'm very new at steelhead fishing and was hoping someone could give me an idea of what would likely be a better day for fishing?  Also, I was up at the Elk Creek Access area (the place with the nice parking lot) in October and did well there.  Are there still fish in that part of Elk creek, or have they all moved upstream?  Again, I'm a steelhead rookie, so all info is appreciated.
Thanks guys.

I generally plan on going up whenever I can, but I don't start looking at the weather conditions until about 3 days in advance to ensure close to 100% accuracy.  I also watch the radar closely.  I do, however, look at what has been happening up there as far as rainfall and melt off to see what the water levels are.  I got a tip from someone on here about the USGS water data and flow charts which I have learned to read this year...very very helpful, by the way.  Over the years, I have learned that hitting the conditions just right is the key to your success.  So watching the weather;  what has happened, what will happen, water levels, clarity and flow are as much an art form as what bait to use to get them to hit, maybe even more of one.  In my opinion, if the conditions are right and the fish are there, you're bound to have a great day of fishing.

Therefore, my thoughts for this upcoming weekend are....Things look good so far, as long as we don't get anymore rain!  Tight Lines.

What about the rains friday & saturday?  Will that hurt the conditions too much, or make it just right?

There are always fishable tribs in Erie no matter how bad it is "normally"!
